CellZapper
Hi Has any one out there managed to get Diseqc goto position function working on the Compro Videomate s350. I have been trying to get a V-box 500 working under DVBveiwer. (all set up and working using a Technomate Receiver, thank god as there is no means to set it up using the limited facilities in DVBveiwer). But using the known position numbers from the V-box and technomate information, no reaction is seen on the V-box when changing satelites under DVBveiwer. Am I just banging my head on a brick wall because the S350 drivers do not support the function. seaching the forum suggest that the DVBveiwer works OK on other cards. Using DVBveiwer 4.0 and 4.1. Thanks Note to the developers, the compro S350 is a low cost and great companion for DVBveiwer, you should look to adding it to your supported hardware (the compro software is very clunky, fit for testing the card only) Edited June 23, 2009 by CellZapper Quote Link to comment

CellZapper
hi I have attached some support info if required chris Quote Link to comment
Griga
I have attached some support info That's good for a start, but not enough. As you can read here http://www.DVBViewer.com/griga/TransEdit%2...qC.html#Remarks in many cases no go without documentation of the manufacturer specific DiSEqC application programming interface (API). However, if it is similar to one of the already supported methods, there are chances that it might work with one of them, particularly if your card is a relabeled version of another card or based on a known chipset like Conexant. You can try with TransEdit 3.3.4 (see the members area): 1) Click Info -> Configuration Folder in TransEdit (opens an explorer window). Close TransEdit. 2) Open the file TransEdit.ini in the configuration folder with a text editor. In the [Hardware] section you will find the entry Vendor.2=0 for your DVB-S card. 0 means that TransEdit hasn't detected the manufacturer of your card and doesn't apply a special method for sending DiSEqC commands, but uses a DiSEqC 1.0 BDA extension originating from TechnoTrend as fallback - some drivers support this approach. 3) Now you can try a different value. Here are the most promising: 1 = FireDTV 2 = Hauppauge (variation of the Conexant reference driver) 3 = TechnoTrend (DiSEqC up to 1.2, requires ttBdaDrvApi_Dll.dll) 5 = Twinhan / AzureWave 12 = AverMedia 13 = TurboSight (variation of the Conexant reference driver) 14 = DVBWorld (variation of the Conexant reference driver) 15 = TeVii (variation of the Conexant reference driver) 17 = Conexant Change it, save TransEdit.ini, relaunch TransEdit, try if DiSEqC works. 4) If not, close TransEdit, enter the next value, save, relaunch... etc. Quote Link to comment
CellZapper
Thanks Griga I have already read and re-read the "diseqc settings" page of the manual, but apart from telling me why a card might not work, and how to use diseqc under transedit, it did not help much in my case. I fully understand that the videomate s350 is not a supported card under DVBViewer, I purchased it as a low cost way of finding the limitations of hardware and software in an HTPC, and found it to be a stable receiver let down badly by the bundled software. (I noted today that Compro now claim it is ProgDVB compliant). I purchased DVBViewer due to the reports on the forums of it stability etc. anticipating that I may have to replace the S350 if it did not work. I am well impressed by DVBViewer and its associated tools, well done guys. The S350 works "quite well" under DVBViewer with a bit of "stickiness" changing channels especially moving between hd channels, it works acceptably under DVBViewer if all you need is SD and no diseqc, and with all the tools and plugins its a 100 times better than compro software. Thank you for the helpful instructions, I will follow them tomorrow when my wife gives me the TV back...... I have today persevered with the comproDTV2.5 software to move the vbox/dish, proving the card/diseqc works, but I managed to destroy many of the set positions on the vbox due to comproDTV2.5 inability to support more than 10 satellite positions, and even after you have set up the positions the software seems to forget what was set.... (maybe it's my fault that I cannot drive/understand their software ) (If all else fails RTFM, unfortunatley it is just as limited as the software) Thanks Griga for your time and support. CellZapper
Hi Griga I have followed your instruction with no apparent success. The vbox is set on Sirius 4.8e With the correct position number for thor applied to transedit. At each restart of transedit I selected 2 transponders on thor 0.8w and did a "scan selected" The Vbox display comes on indicating "sirius" the scan prceeds and the vbox lights go out (lnb power off) The vbox stays on sirius. So I assume its a no go. FYI if it is of any use The chipset on the Compro vidiomate S350 board is Phillips asic SAA7130HL CF4807 TSG06091 Copro technology PRO1A GS150 (I presume a prom) And next to the shield over the connectors a small chip ZL10313 0546NWL^ unrecognised MFG logo The black resist circuit board has P/N 0G9MP01P00-C8 I feel guilty about only testing the card under compro software after asking here for help. (but it does work, and moves the dish) I had not tried the compro software diseqc operation before for 2 reasons, I assumed it worked as they claimed, and I could not find the diseqc control panel on previous attempts of using the compro software (I read the manual this time). Thanks again for your help Griga Chris Edit I did not install the dll I assumed it was for the tecnotrend only , I hope that was not a mistake. 3 = TechnoTrend (DiSEqC up to 1.2, requires ttBdaDrvApi_Dll.dll) Edited June 27, 2009 by CellZapper Quote Link to comment
CellZapper
I am new to diseqc, the only dealing I have had is setting up the vbox on my technomate. problem free. learnt nothing. Just say that it has been a eventfull few day and I have learned a great deal about Vbox devices and Technomate channel lists researching the problems that I got my satellite setup into with my usual ham fisted behaviour. so its true , you learn a lot when you have problems. And I fixed satellite setup issues on the Technomate, that I had been living with for a while now. I have checked the DLL file mentioned above was in the DVBViewer folder all along.
