pjred Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 I found this on an Australian forum which might help to explain my problem. Prime HD runs their HD service quite weirdly, the HD service is turned off whenever there is no native HD and the HD LCN is redirected to the SD channel. Many STBs and most DTV cards can't handle this properly, some will stick to showing SD at all times if they scanned the channel when no native HD was on, some will give a black screen or frozen frame if there's no native HD and the box was scanned when there was HD on and some operate properly switching between the two as neccessary I've attached a file from the Channel editor which shows the Channel Prime HD when it is running in HD. If i select the 1st PRIME HD (when HD is broadcast) you get audio and video) If I select the 2nd PRIME HD (when HD is broadcast)) you get no audio and no video and the screen filckers black. Problem is when the channel changes to an SD broadcast, selecting the 1st PRIME HD gives a picture but no audio (and the video PID changes from 4600 to 2700 and audio pid stays at 4602) Selecting 2nd PRIME HD gives audio and picture (V PID 2700 A PID 2701). I should also note that HD broadcasts give AC3 and SD broadcasts have MPEG. It seems the 1st prime updates the V PID from 4600 to 2700 when changing from HD to SD so you still get a picture with it selected but it doesn't update the A PID to 2701. The DVBSource filter shows no data connected for audio. You have to select the 2nd Prime with a SD broadcast to get pic + audio. Is it possible to have the A PID update automatically when the V PID does when the channel switches from HD to SD and vice versa. I can get around it manually by slecting either the 1st or 2nd PRIME HD depending on the transmission at the time but the problem lies when setting a recording and you don't know which one to select. I tried the twintuner with another software and in the channel scan it only shows the one PRIME HD at that frequncy, it doesn't give you a subset with different audio and it seems to select channel OK whether in HD or SD with V PID changing. Have Auto-Update Channel selected and tried radio/tv pre-format detection. I hope I've explained it clearly enough. Paul dvb.pdf Quote
Griga Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Please try DVBViewer GE (download from the members area, read the ReadMe!). I assume it will handle the VPID/APID change correctly and give us a hint how the automatic channel update of DVBViewer Pro must be enhanced. Quote
Lars_MQ Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 You could also try the Pro Beta, which uses a reworked version of the auto update. Quote
pjred Posted June 26, 2009 Author Posted June 26, 2009 Hi, tried Ge 2.7.2.0 and it worked fine, but 4.1.1.1 and 4.2.0.1 beta have the problem. Paul Quote
Griga Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Thanks for feedback. Lars is already working on it, and I suppose it will be fixed in the next DVBViewer Pro Beta release. Quote
pjred Posted June 26, 2009 Author Posted June 26, 2009 Thanks, that would be great, I prefer the pro version. I can't get the preview window to work properly in the GE version (video keeps flicking on and off). Although, with the pro version, the preview window can't be dragged outside the main window and if I right click on the preview window it disappears...is this normal as you get a menu come up in the GE version? Apart from that the video doesn't flick on/off in the pro version. Paul Quote
pjred Posted June 29, 2009 Author Posted June 29, 2009 Some updated feedback... Tried version 4.2.0.10 beta and it handled the VPID/APID change OK. However, on a channel that has same VPID but 2 different APID (one for mpeg audio and one for AC3), the "prefer AC3 for file playback" doesn't work. You have to select the AC3 channel if you prefer it. It works in the GE version though. Paul Quote
