improwise Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Is there any system to what recordings show up in recording statistics and what doesn't? It seems to be completely random now, I have a recording that records episodes of a series daily, and some of them show up, while others dont, even though they all get recorded. I have tried both refreshing the DB and delete orphans but still, at least half of all recording never show up....any idea? Quote
Devastation Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Recording with DVBV or RecordingService? And if Service where do they not show? Local DVBV, DVBV over network, RecService Webinterface? How they are named, and how is the list sorted (by Date, Name...)? Whats the recording folders?........... Quote

Sorting etc. doesn't matter as they simply aren't in the list of recorded shows that is displayed. Again, please note that the recordings themself are actually made, as the files are on disc can be played, it's just that the recording statistics doesn't display them for some strange reason.... Devastation Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Options --> Recordings --> Create information file is checked? If not please do so. This should availble refresh db to do his job. Quote
improwise Posted July 27, 2009 Author Posted July 27, 2009 Options --> Recordings --> Create information fileis checked? If not please do so. This should availble refresh db to do his job. Will need to check that, not 100% sure about it. But why is that necessary for this database? Or is it perhaps so that the term "database" isn't really true, that it is in fact just a browser of the information files and not seperate data storage? Quote
improwise Posted July 28, 2009 Author Posted July 28, 2009 Have tried different settings now as described above but no, it simply doesn't work. 5 recordings made today, 1 showed up under "recording statistics". Don't really see the point of this feature if it doesnt include all recordings, on the other hand, I think that most people probably doesn't even know there is a recording database hiding behind the not so informative title "recoding statistics". At least I found it by pure luck, thinking before that it was probably just some kind if status report. Quote
Kuni Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Options --> Recordings --> Create information fileis checked? If not please do so. This should availble refresh db to do his job. I have about 20 recordings I can play, and only 3 of them show up in the recordgins database. All on one machine, latest DVBViewer versions of everything... Nothing I can do will get the missing 17 recordings into the DB. And as mentioned, it's random what will or wont be entered into it. This is STILL happening after I completely rebuilt my machine with Win 7... Quote
Devastation Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 (edited) Create information file......why is that necessary for this database? Not necessary. But if a refresh is needed DVBV can get information out of the infofiles if the ntfs infos not there. But normally the database should have the entries at the moment the recording is done (even when recording is begun). Again: Whats the recording folders? C: ? System Partition can cause problems. Better is a separate partition or hd. using DVBViewer (and DVB Server) you mean the recording DVBV is a client on a other PC? Also Win7? Edited July 30, 2009 by Devastation Quote
Devastation Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 (edited) @improwise @Kuni I have deaktivated my recordingservice and used DVBV for recordings and can affirm this problem for one of my internal betas. A crosscheck with DVBV 4.1.1 have worked allright. But if information file is created a refresh db works perfectly and all recordings are in the database. So please aktivate the option Create information file as mentioned above and check if refresh db works for that recordings (every recording must have also a equal named .txt in the recordingfolder) All under xpsp3 And please would you both post a support.zip to better track the problem. Devastation Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Some testings later: after installing 4.2.1 over the working 4.1.1 it works further. No problems. A comlete new installed 4.2.1 -> no problems. My installation with the problem: nothing I have done helped. So my hard recommendation: Save your data (channellist, timers...) and deinstall DVBV. Maybe clean up with CCleaner. Do a new installation. The workaround with the infofile and then refresh db works in all my tests! So I generally recommend to aktivate this in the options. Quote
