Choppy playback of Bluray encoded in VC-1?

Hi,

I am running DVBViewer 4.1 and have not had any problems before playing back my .m2ts bluray back-ups.

I also have the conncinity3D skin and the Mymovies plugin which both work and look great.

I have PowerDVD 8 ultra installed and use its filters for high def playback with DVB V.

However when playing back Gran Torino at the weekend the play back was sluggish and choppy either from the file mode or the disc itself.

If I opened up PowerDVD and played the Disc with that it was perfect.

I also tried the "use external player" option in the Mymovies plugin to select PowerDVD via DVBViewer but in that way it was choppy again.

Is this a problem with DVBViewer and VC-1 encoded movies??

I have a mid - high end gaming rig so its not system specs.

The deocders are the problem. Only good for VC-1 with DVBViewer is Arcsoft according to this german thread.

If you have PowerDVD simpelst solution would be to use it for VC-1 Blu-rays.

Thanks for the reply,

So is it Arcsoft TMT i need, Do you know which version and package? I don't read German too well.

Yes the PowerDVD playback works but now that I have an archive of back-ups all ripped in file mode rather than iso, and set-up to play via DVB V and the MyMovies plugin with Movie Backdrops and synopsis etc, (media centre style) it's a dissapointment to have to revert back to the Disc and use Power DVD, or convert a file mode rip to an iso and mount it so I can play it with PowerDVD.

A compromise would have been if the feature of MyMovies plugin to "Use external Player" would have solved the problem but although it opened PwDVD and played the file, it was still choppy that way.

Thanks for your help. sounds a bit hit and miss does'nt it, but a HTPC and HD always has been. ;)

Hey, a suprising update. Although the VC-1 encoded Gran Torino only played back properly via Power DVD 8, I now discover that the film "Mongol" (also a VC-1 encode) plays back just fine with DVBViewer.

I tried Gran Torino again, just to make sure, but that still has choppy/jurky playback.

I had thoughts it might be to do with AnyDVD HD which I use for ripping a back-up or to allow DVBViewer to playback the actual disc but not now.

What could be the difference between the two movies encoded in VC-1 then???
