NedZha Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 Hello everybody I'm beginning to hate this skystar2 of mine! I just want to watch and record 3-4 channels simultaneously, But it results in a glitchy picture. I've been told that this skystar2 has a 45.2Mbps Data Rate, while channels have a small fraction of this (3-7 Mbps). So, can anybody expert tell me how to fix this? Is it even possible? Should a card support Full TS mode, in order to use pip freely? Please help me, I'm getting too tired. Quote
Derrick Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 Should a card support Full TS mode, in order to use pip freely? The answer is yes. Several simultaneous programmes need to allocate more pid-filters than available. Quote
Andrey123456 Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 Check if you are using latest WDM driver. No way it will work properly with current BDA driver Quote
NedZha Posted November 3, 2009 Author Posted November 3, 2009 Check if you are using latest WDM driver. No way it will work properly with current BDA driver I have 4.5.1 that released recently. and I couldn't make DVBViewer work with BDA drivers, It can't recogize such devices, it seems. ======================= Anyway, is it possible to increase the performance of SkyStar2 for a better PIP experience? for example, tuned in Hotbird 11766V(Where RAI channels are), It's possible to watch only two channels in the same time. I just want to increase this number, up to 3-4. Quote
Andrey123456 Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Replace 45 MHz oscillator with 66 or up to 80 MHz. Detailed directions depend on PCB revision. Of course you must understand what you are doing and why. Quote
NedZha Posted November 8, 2009 Author Posted November 8, 2009 (edited) There's a 2.8 ver of skystar2. does it have this limits too. mine is 2.6 . My cousin has a 2.8 and never uses it. I may exchange mine with his. And thanks for your in depth technical answer Edited November 8, 2009 by NedZha Quote
Andrey123456 Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Replacement 2.6 with 2.8 should not solve your problem, but you can try anyway. The only way to solve bandwidth bottleneck is overclocking. I also have Skystar S2 suffering from exactly the same problem. I have all the tools including programmable PLL, but I still think that overclocking is not the right way. And spent time wil not be worth whole card cost. If yoy want PIP functionality just throw Skystar away and buy TT-S1401. This is the cheapest solution. If you still want to improve Skystar card some information for you: Rev2.8 has SMT oscillator rev2.6 thruhole. Oscillator should be 3.3 Volt, NOT 5V. Most overclockers have 66 Mhz oscillator. Quote
