Kiwi_Tim Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 I'd like some advice on the best way to get EPG data into DVBViewer for people down in Australia and New Zealand. I first purchased DVBViewer back in June 2008 and couldn't get it to run on my tired 8 year old PC. I upgraded to a dual core 2.6GHz AMD 5050e based PC several months back and have been playing with DVBViewer since then. It mostly runs very well on my new PC and I'm really impressed with what DVBViewer can do compared to the likes of WinTV (which is awful). I'm tuned into 3 Ku band satellites (Optus D1 160.0 E, Optus D2 152.0 E, Optus C1 156.0 E) and 1 C band satellite (Intelsat 5.0 169.0 E). Some channels come with EPG off the satellite, and some have no EPG. I've browsed a few webpages that discuss XMLTV EPG and have discovered that there is a XMLTV plugin for DVBViewer (Xepg). Does Xepg work only for Europe or will this work for TV in my part of the world? There is an Australian based XMLTV tool (http://www.epgstream.net/default.aspx?page=information-welcome ), but I think this was designed for Media Center, and I don't know if it will work with DVBViewer. Perhaps there are some DVBViewer users in the south pacific that could advise me on the best way to get epg for channels on the satellites above. Many thanks, Tim Quote
Tjod Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 I've browsed a few webpages that discuss XMLTV EPG and have discovered that there is a XMLTV plugin for DVBViewer (Xepg). Does Xepg work only for Europe or will this work for TV in my part of the world? Xepg is not a grabber. It imports XMLTV EPG into DVBViewer and Recording Service. It should work in all parts of the world. http://www.DVBViewer.info/forum/index.php?showtopic=20539 http://www.a123.dk/ Besides Xepg you will need a XMLTV grabber that collects the EPG for you stations. Hence you can use guides for other programs as well e.g. the page about Media Center (Getting Your XMLTV Data). Quote
Kiwi_Tim Posted November 3, 2009 Author Posted November 3, 2009 Thanks for your help. Now I understand a little better. I get satellite channels from several different countries, so is there a grabber that will do multiple countries that you could recommend, or can I use multiple grabbers, one for each country. Many thanks, Tim Quote
Tjod Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 so is there a grabber that will do multiple countries that you could I think such a grabber didn't exist. At least not legal and for free. Kiwi_Tim Posted November 12, 2009 Author Posted November 12, 2009 I'm still looking for a suitable EPG solution. I'll let you know if I find something useful. Many thanks, Tim, New Zealand Quote
