digitl Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 I've installed v4.2.1.0 on Windows 7 with a Nova-HD-S2 card. Sometimes DVBViewer loads and works fine, other times I get a 'No hardware available' error. Re-booting doesn't always work, neither does Settings -> Options -> Hardware -> Rescan Anyone any thoughts on what might be wrong? TIA Quote
Lars_MQ Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 another program blocking the hardware most likely. Quote

joesoap Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 Sometimes when I have the error message 'No hardware available' I have discovered that it seems there is a problem with the recording facility although the red button is not showing. I found on several occasions that it looks as if a conflicting Start time and Finish time for a recording has been set(but not by me!) eg Start 15.01 Finish 15.01. On top toolbar I select DVBViewer and from the drop down list I select'Recording Statistics' which gives three sets of info. So when I have cancelled the recoding times in conflict and restart DVBVviewer works as normal. The only other situation I have encountered is when I have forgotten that AltDvb is already running on minimise. Quote
HaraldL Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Sometimes when I have the error message 'No hardware available' I have discovered that it seems there is a problem with the recording facility Then you haven't configured it correctly. If you use Recording Service and DVBViewer on the same machine you have to set the real DVB card in DVBViewer to "do not use" (or similar) and create a unicast device pointing to the Recording Service on the same machine. See installation instructions for Recording Service. Then you'll never get a "No Hardware available", instead you're forcefully switched to the channel that is recording when RS ist actively using the card. Quote
CCTVHK Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 This may be an issue with the tuner driver. If that message pops up again, have a look on the device manager. See what's going on with your tuner device. Jot down its name as shown in the device manager. Then try reboot your machine. If your tuner works again after reboot, have a look again on the tuner's name shown under the device manager. If it's different from the name you jotted down previously, it is very likely a driver issue. You may try devcon restart to fix that problem. Google it. Quote
Gioxy Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 You may try devcon restart to fix that problemPlease find a a very rough&stright about "how to use" devcon here For those who have a USB connected device, simply try to manually disconnect and reconnect it: not a final solution, but - if it works - at least you don't need to restart the whole PC to regain the hw...
