Ronski Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 Hi, I've just installed Windows 7 RTM and found that I can play DVBViewer recordings in Media Center - the recordings are listed under Movies. Whilst the video side of things works perfectly, there is no audio. Any idea how to get audio working in Media Center for DVBViewer recordings? The sound is fine when playing via DVBViewer. I use the recording service just to record ITV HD, and if I could watch the recordings in media center then it would be so much better. Quote
Lars_MQ Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 Ask in a Windows 7 forum. You say yourself, the records are perfectly fine, so it must be a problem with the MC... Quote
Ronski Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 OK, thanks for your reply, what codec is the sound recorded in? Quote
Lars_MQ Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 The format transmitted by the station. Might be mp2, ac3 or aac. just play it with the DVBViewer and check which filters are used... Quote

In that case Media Centre should play it, as there is a hack to watch ITV HD, but you just can't record it. When using the hack, the sound on ITV HD is perfect. the hack is basically nipping into the registry and under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Settings\TVConfig changing the value of the key fAllowDvbsMHEG from 0 to 1 and then doing a manual scan of the appropriate frequency. its a ac3 problem with win 7 mc,I have ITV HD,BBC HD and CH4HD and have the same problem playing back recordings, good video but no sound.plays fine in DVBViewer, vlc etc so I guess win 7 does not/cannot play ac3?maybe someone knows a workaround but for me I use DVBViewer for HD playback anyway. Thanks for your reply, I can watch BBC HD no problem in W7, even ITV HD if I use the hack. I can also play MKV files which have AC3 sound without problem. I think I'll just carry on the way I am, as ITV HD is supposed to be going to a proper channel at some point. Quote
