Jeremyl Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 I must record C band North American feeds from four satellites with multiple transponders. I have just purchased three Technisat receivers to deal with it, meaning we can maybe record three feeds at once. However, often one feed immediately follows another on the same satellite/polarization. Is there a way to set record start time to the second? Can I switch the timer page to show HH:MM:SS? In any event, it seems I need fine control over start time. I have set my PC to grab NTP time every 15 minutes, so the software and hardware clock are accurate to the second. I have to record 30 minute shows (actually probably about 28:30). If I start a timer at 14:00 to end at 14:30, then the timer says the next feed is starting at 12:31 PM. One, a network feed, starts exactly at the top of the hour, and I note the start of the feed is clipped and the file time stamp says "Yesterday, December 25, 2009, 7:00:00 PM" which should be exactly correct, but it appears a second or two are missing. Since a previous feed may end in the minute before the next one begins, I could use better understanding of the exact time in and out, and how it all works. I have not yet found the timer data base or timer engine. I wonder if it may be possible to modify exact times using an ascii text editor. Thanks Quote
Lars_MQ Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 No you can only programm to the minute. And you should never try to programm on exact time better add a margin to the beginning/end. Quote
Jeremyl Posted January 1, 2010 Author Posted January 1, 2010 Lars. Thanks. But in some cases we have less than one minute margin between programs. So an option to show seconds in timers would help. Quote
Lars_MQ Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 No it won't. You have to remember there are latencies for tuning, positioning the dish or even for harddisks to spin up, this might take up to a minute or more (all together in worst case) so seconds are simply not useful. Quote
McenterFreak Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 I completly agree with Lars, this is a stupid request. It is not possible to time recordings at the second. No broadcasters schedule at the seconds. What you need is duo or quad LNB's and more tuners (as i have, 2 FireDTV and 2 DVB-T tuners). DVBViewer and Recording service handle this perfectly, so find a little bit of money, and invest in tuners Quote
