themaster1 Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 My problem currently is the following: The remote i use was sold with my analog capture card, a software manage everything so i can control DVBViewer or any application i want via keyboard shortcuts. It sounds fun said like this but in practice it's a nightmare because i have to press the buttons hard, sometimes a button is interpreted wrong and trigger an unwanted action etc .. (you get the picture) So, i'm currently looking for a remote that would work with DVBViewer just like a Real remote does with a tv. I'd like to avoid any third-party software which handle keyboard shortcuts like Girder. Is there such a remote out there ? Quote
SupaChris Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 You can buy a X10 compatible remote. This one can directly handled by DVBViewer via a plug in or for more flexibility via EventGhost software. There is no keyboard emulation required. Quote

I don't understand exactly what's X10 Is it a receiver (radio waves receiver) ? Is it a software ? see here Can i control all DVBViewer functions with it or is it limited Also, where can i find a compatible remote Many questions i know but it's important none the less Quote
SupaChris Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 (edited) X10 is a wireless, radio based remote control system, used by the Windows MCE. There are lots of x10 compatible remotes ans ubs receivers e.g. at ebay ( http://cgi.ebay.de/MCE-Fernbedienung-XP-Vi...=item5d270fb0c2 ). This remote directly controls the DVBViewer via the mce remote plugin. Edited January 26, 2010 by SupaChris Quote
themaster1 Posted January 26, 2010 Author Posted January 26, 2010 This remote look cheap made. I don't understand how it can control DVBViewer and not using keyboard emulation but if you say so i trust you. Also you mention Windows MCE but i'm running XP home...problem here This Radio based receiver has a maximum angle or no angle? Most of the Ir receivers do and i don't like it, you're obliged to be in the direct path of the receiver. Have you tried this remote yourself ? Quote
themaster1 Posted January 27, 2010 Author Posted January 27, 2010 Ok i think i get it all these remotes see here should be compatible. What's worry me is what if not. Can you confirm to me the X10 remote plugin (for DVBViewer) works with all X10 remote compatible (or only The MCE remote) ? Quote
SupaChris Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 (edited) No, I cannot confirm this, but I read so. I´m using a Philips SBC RU 880 infrared remote with my own-built receiver for USB. This works absolutely reliable via EventGhost. EventGhost controls the DVBViewer via the COM programming interface, so it is not neccessary to have the DVBViewer in focus and no keyboard emulation is used. EventGhost also can handle X10 remotes. Over this way you can reliable control all the DVBViewer functions. X10 remotes are radio based, so there is no viewing angle. Edited January 27, 2010 by SupaChris Quote
themaster1 Posted January 28, 2010 Author Posted January 28, 2010 Ok so to make it short you have no experience on the subject: the Radio Frequency based remotes. I currently use a universal remote (with the learn function) , i wonder if i could program it to make it work with X10 receiver and avoid keyboard emulation. Are the codes of the Windows MCE remote available and do you think that my remote (infrared) could work with that ? Quote
themaster1 Posted January 31, 2010 Author Posted January 31, 2010 Today i have discovered EventGhost and it works a lot better with my new Hauppauge remote. Almost like a tv remote i'd say and i use keyboard emulation! Quote
