Kiwi_Tim Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 I've had a few errors appear (black screen or part black screen) when playing back TV recordings. This seems to be happening on both SD and HD recordings This only happens for a few seconds, and only occurs when I record more than one channel at the same time. I have 2 Hauppauge TV cards installed on an XP SP3 system: NOVA-S-PLUS satellite capture card and a HVR-3000 hybrid card. I have 3.25 GB of RAM avaiable to Windows, an AMD 5050e 2.6 X2 cpu, and a Western Digital 400GB 7200RPM Hard Disk. I have the most current version of DVBViewer. I am wondering where the bottleneck is regarding recording multiple channels at once. I am guessing it is the Hard Drive and am thinking that a RAID 0 setup may fix my problems, but maybe I need a CPU with 4 cores instead of the 2 cores I get with the 5050e. Any advice on hardware selection that would enable error free multiple recordings will be greatly appreciated. Tim New Zealand Quote
Lars_MQ Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Writing to the harddisc is for sure no bottleneck. To narrow down the problem you should activate "Write log file" on the options -> Recordings page. Then you should check: does it always happen if the two devices are active or only if they both use the SAT dish. Quote
Kiwi_Tim Posted March 3, 2010 Author Posted March 3, 2010 Upon reflection I am pretty sure that the error occurs when I am recording 2 channels on the same transponder. Thanks for your advice, I'll give it a go. Many thanks, Tim New Zealand Quote
