buttonsNI. Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 i was trying to use the panasonic v10 tv to playback DVBViewer recordings through its dnla connection to the pc. i found that some .ts recordings could play back ok but others could not. the ones that would not play back were h.264/ac3 .ts recordings is this normal or am i missing something?
Lars_MQ Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Have you checked the manual, if the TV does support this format?
buttonsNI. Posted March 5, 2010 Author Posted March 5, 2010 (edited) Have you checked the manual, if the TV does support this format? it says movie : mpeg-2(ps format) / dviX Extension -"mpg","mpeg","dvix" or ".avi" *some MPEG-2 format may not be supported i have noticed it plays back recorded hd channels in the format dvbs/ac3 .ts but not h.264/ac3 .ts also any recording with no audio bitrate shown in the properties of the file will not play is there anything else i can do ? Lars_MQ Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 h.264 is NOT Mpeg2. So most likely it will not work.
buttonsNI. Posted March 5, 2010 Author Posted March 5, 2010 h.264 is NOT Mpeg2. So most likely it will not work. i have to say that for example bbchd is dvbs hd channel on 28e .this recording shows up ok on the dnla tv but mgm hd channel dvbs does not both have h.264/ac3 video/audio type the differance is if you open the properties of the recorded files ,under the details .the bbc recording shows the audio bitrate and the mgm recording does not. has this audio bitrate property got something to do with the dnla tv seeing the file or not seeing the file. another example is sky screen hd recording .
Lars_MQ Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Could you please use Mediainfo to show the exact properties? There you can save the info as simple text file, much easier to compare then
Lars_MQ Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 well now we have mgm and skyhd but not the working bbchd example...
buttonsNI. Posted March 5, 2010 Author Posted March 5, 2010 well now we have mgm and skyhd but not the working bbchd example... skyscreenhd is working as well but here is bbchd too
Lars_MQ Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Well skyHD and bbcHD both have a MPEG2 Audio stream. The MGM has only a AC3 stream. This might make a difference...
buttonsNI. Posted March 5, 2010 Author Posted March 5, 2010 yes i seen this difference but is there any we can get around this to allow the pc to stream the recording to the dlna tv?
Lars_MQ Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Well the only way would be to transcode the file (convert the ac3 audio stream to a mp2 audiostream)...
buttonsNI. Posted March 5, 2010 Author Posted March 5, 2010 so there is no automatic way DVBViewer can work the trancoding whilst actually recording ,other than converting the audio after the recording has been made?
Lars_MQ Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 No there is not way. The DVBViewer can only do repacking (ts -> mpeg) but it will not change the compression format in any way.
