i was trying to use the panasonic v10 tv to playback DVBViewer recordings through its dnla connection to the pc.

i found that some .ts recordings could play back ok but others could not.

the ones that would not play back were h.264/ac3 .ts recordings

is this normal or am i missing something?

Have you checked the manual, if the TV does support this format?

Have you checked the manual, if the TV does support this format?

it says

movie : mpeg-2(ps format) / dviX

Extension -"mpg","mpeg","dvix" or ".avi"

*some MPEG-2 format may not be supported

i have noticed it plays back recorded hd channels in the format dvbs/ac3 .ts but not h.264/ac3 .ts

also any recording with no audio bitrate shown in the properties of the file will not play

is there anything else i can do ?

h.264 is NOT Mpeg2. So most likely it will not work.

i have to say that for example bbchd is dvbs hd channel on 28e .this recording shows up ok on the dnla tv but

mgm hd channel dvbs does not

both have h.264/ac3 video/audio type

the differance is if you open the properties of the recorded files ,under the details .the bbc recording shows the audio bitrate and the mgm recording does not.

has this audio bitrate property got something to do with the dnla tv seeing the file or not seeing the file.

another example is sky screen hd recording .

Could you please use Mediainfo to show the exact properties? There you can save the info as simple text file, much easier to compare then :bye:

skyscreenhd is working as well but here is bbchd too

Well skyHD and bbcHD both have a MPEG2 Audio stream. The MGM has only a AC3 stream. This might make a difference...

Posted

yes i seen this difference but is there any we can get around this to allow the pc to stream the recording to the dlna tv?

Posted

Well the only way would be to transcode the file (convert the ac3 audio stream to a mp2 audiostream)...

Posted

so there is no automatic way DVBViewer can work the trancoding whilst actually recording ,other than converting the audio after the recording has been made?

Posted

No there is not way. The DVBViewer can only do repacking (ts -> mpeg) but it will not change the compression format in any way.

Fair enough,thanks
