divko Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Hello! I've encountered a strange problem. I have 3 TechniSat SkyStar USB 2 HD CI [4104/3733] receivers connected to my main computer, running a DVBServer V4.2.1.0. I've set up a Unicast server via my Wi-Fi network to other laptops. Streaming TV channels works without a hitch, but when I choose radio channel, there is one second of sound for every second of silence. CPU utilization is low. A radio channel as "HITRADIO OE3", which also has a video stream, works fine. Now why is this The DVBViewer is also V4.2.1.0. I remember it working fine with radio back in 3.9.4.0 version... I tried so solve the problem myself. I switched between the options whether to open the whole transponder etc., but with no avail. If I connect the SkyStar receiver directly to the laptop, it works fine. Just via streaming it doesn't. Quote
Lars_MQ Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 In the options of the unicast network device of the client set the buffers to 7. Quote
divko Posted March 6, 2010 Author Posted March 6, 2010 (edited) Lars, thank you for the reply. I actually figured out this myself: I lowered the Buffer number in the Unicast network device from 100 to 50, and now it works fine. It actually waited for the buffer to fill, and the burst it out. This is the reason for continuous interruptions. But I would nevertheless like the developers of DVBViewer to adjust the behavior of Unicast network device, depending on the bitrate of the channel streamed. Ideally, the required buffer is measured in seconds, not required bitrate to sustain it. The buffer setting in DVBServer should be in number of seconds (eg. 5s), not in megabytes or number of buffers. What is too much for a radio stream can be too little for an HD stream.
