Tripitaka Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Hello, Hopefully there is a good soul here who can help me set this lot up before I tear all my hair out. I have a satellite dish which is plugged into the card, it seems to be receiving ok, I did get a spanish channel last night, I have installed the drivers from the Hauppauge installation cd but I haven't installed the Win TV software. Found lots of codecs and installed them according to the included instructions and in my settings there is a codec for each requirement except for AAC audio, I have installed the AAC but it doesn't show up in the settings, it just states 'system default' I scanned the astra 19 thing but all I get are spanish channels, the English channels all seem to be hidden, where are the English channels? Where are the HD channels? It's a standalone pc, I am the admin. I have included the support file hopefully someone can point me in the direction of HD free to air English channels. I was hoping this would be easy but there are SO many settings that us mere mortals get confused Kind Regards, Tripitaka support.zip Quote
uglyned Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 (edited) If you want UK English channels you'll need to point your dish at (or scan) Eurobird / Astra at 28.2 degrees east. You seem to be scanning Astra at 19 degrees east. Wrong bird. Edited March 18, 2010 by uglyned Quote
Tripitaka Posted March 18, 2010 Author Posted March 18, 2010 thanks for the reply, I have tried to scan that one but it keeps freezing, it gets as far as this (below) then stops and I have to ctrl alt del to shut it down If I try to scan it from dvb I end up with this.. but all I get are spanish channels no english at all. Why do I have a list of 50,000,000 ini files for foreign tv? I only want English and HD? Is there a step by step guide for receiving only English and HD channels? Regards, Tripitaka Quote
PeterF Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Where ist your dish pointed to? Astra19,2° or Astra28°? This is the first thing you must know, if it isn`t pointed to the right direction, you can scna 100 tmes and you can`t find any channel you are searching. PeterF Quote
Tripitaka Posted March 19, 2010 Author Posted March 19, 2010 Yes you are correct of course. The foundations must be good for the structure to be sound. So today I refreshed my pc, updated .net and did a full uninstall/reinstall of programmes and codecs. Scanned the Astra28 and bingo, High Definition I do have a couple more questions though, which is the best Video Rendering setting? and Where do the freesat tables go? Thanks for the advice. support.zip Quote
