steven627 Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 I too would appreciate some discussion about peoples' experiences regarding remote controls. I have tried 3 so far. The first 2 were the fairly basic ones that came with cards. The Twinhan 878 one is useless and eats batteries. The Technisat SkyStar HD2 one is OK but plugs directly into the card so can't be used on a different PC and is far to sensitive resulting in things toggling on and off again or the wrong station being tuned etc. More recently I got an Emprex MCE remote, which I'm using in XP. This is a reasonable remote for the money (about £16) but because I'm using in XP and it was designed for Vista MCE a few of the buttons have no function. Also the channel + & - buttons are rather stiff and often don't respond. Another thing that would've been nice would be an interface to control functions as some of the buttons will directly control the OS, such as the power button which will put the PC into standby and the mute button which which will mute the whole system rather than just DVBViewer. Otherwise it is OK, looks and feels fairly smart and has a decent set of controls nicely laid out. The signal is picked up via a small USB dongle, which is RF rather than IR so line of sight is not an issue, meaning it can be hidden at the back of your HTPC. Quote
Andrey123456 Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 I would recommend MCE remote. There are many brands. I use XGene 2,4 GHz. Radio remote has wider range than IR remote and does not require direct line of sight. It means that you can plug USB receiver in back socket of your HTPC. If you have problem with not working buttons search for MCE2005MR.dll plugin on this forum. In my case the problem was fixed. Quote
