network streaming gripes

I am having trouble with getting the streaming to work. I am finding the instructions a little ambiguous and I am not given enough information about what to expect to see to fault find this. The help screen shots are of a different version and i need more to help to make this work.

With it not working yet, the instructions dont say that when you are running the DVBServer sofware, whether you can observe "Data Rate" stream values all the time or just when client are connected. Is the "Data rate" shown if no clients are connected, or does it show the stream rate all the time. I dont have it working and have no idea what i am looking for.

In the client, how do you know when it is in stream mode? I have configured it to the values shown in the help, gone out, come back in again, but it still doesnt work and gives no indication. Is it appropriate to set values like "stream control > stream whole transponder" inside the DVBViewer software before you exit and then open up the Server applet? are DVBViewer values in the DVBViewer software streaming menu separate or defunkt values that dont effect the server program and its settings.

In the DVB Server I sometimes get a message saying that the "this port is already used by the control server". This setting is not shown in the help at all and in the help there is a mixture of port 2345 and 4012 used, which is which. The screen shots are of a different version all together so dont help me get this correctly set? I have tried many alternatives but only wasted huge amounts of time here.

does anyone have a laymen guide to this or could we get them update the screen shots with working examples please.

In my setup I have no firewalls or windows firewalls set and am baffled as it should work.

Thanks for any advice, I really hope they see this and update the help files.
