SimonP Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Does anyone know if it's possible to get subtitles on ITV HD in DVBv and if so, how? I understand that it appears through the red button on HD TVs and subtitles are somehow available that way but I need to be able to record them. I can receive ITV HD OK, but not its subtitles and I need them. (Currently I have to record programmes on both ITV1 and ITV HD and rip the subs out of the ITV1 recording to use with the HD version, which is a bit messy.) Thanks, Simon. Quote
dvbrewer Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 (edited) Does anyone know if it's possible to get subtitles on ITV HD in DVBv and if so, how? I doubt it, ITV1 HD London is also quite delayed over the SD versions, ITV1 HD Granada on 10935V (uplinked by Sky) is closer but I'm not sure if it would be possible to watch one channel live and the subtitles of another. SimonP Posted August 7, 2010 Author Posted August 7, 2010 (edited) I haven't tried it live. I usually record both SD and HD, edit them as near identically as I can with VideoReDo, then rip the subs out of the SD version using ProjectX. It works well enough and isn't too bad for recordings I want to keep but I'm pretty deaf and need subtitles so live viewing of ITV HD is more or less out of the question right now :-( Edited August 7, 2010 by SimonP Quote
868mhz Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Hi, you can insert the Teletext PID of one of the SD streams on the same transponder into the HD channel. So you can watch live TV with the Teletext(888) subtitles. As stated in the last answer, there is a delay between the HD picture and the SD teletext (subtitle comes early). On 10832H there are three teletext streams to try: PID 2352 (ITV1 W Country), PID 2306 (ITV Wales) and 2344 (ITV West). Not perfect, but works. Quote
