dvbrewer
Currently if .ts is selected in Options>Recorder>Output Format all TV whether MPEG2 SD or H.264/AVC HD is saved as .ts- in Windows Explorer it incorrectly describes H.264/AVC HD files as MPEG-2 TS Video, however if you rename the extension to .m2ts it correctly describes it as AVC HD video, so for neatness, and easy distinction of HD from SD video in explorer I think it would be good to have an .m2ts save option for all 720p/1080i H.264/AVC video. dvbrewer
..you'd better write a letter to ms But isn't m2ts the more correct extension to be used for AVC HD, so ideally that is what DVBViewer should be using? Quote Link to comment
Tjod
.ts is the Container format used for broadcast e.g. DVB (188 Byte Packets) and .m2ts is used for random access media e.g. Blu-Ray (192 Byte Packets). In .m2ts files each Packet contains a Timecode. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPEG_transport_stream#Timecode Quote Link to comment
dvbrewer
OK, thanks for the info, looks like the answer is no then- I suppose if I put the channel name at the start of recordings (Options>Recorder>Recordings>File Naming Scheme) this will enable easier distinguishing of HD from SD recordings.
