Recordings on Qnap NAS become inaccessible

Hi all,

I recently replaced my Lacie Networkspace nas with Qnap 419p and suffer now a strange access problem with my recordings. The recording service seems to "lose connection" with the recordings after a while, no client can access the recordings and the recording list on the recording service's web page just shows "filesize 0,00 KB" for every recording. When updating the database again everything works ok for a little while. The HTPC where I'm running the recording service uses winxp but I installed RS also to my win7 desktop pc and it suffers the same problem. The network recording folder is configured as open share (guest account enabled). Also tried running RS with user privileges and nas password protected, no difference to the matter. I've played with every Qnap setting (disabled power management, etc.) and can't figure out what could cause the problem. The RS has no other access problems with the nas, every recording I make comes out ok (no errors, no disconnections). Also it's a strange thing that not every recording comes inaccessible at same time (first there are few and after a while all) and there is no logic at all which ones become inaccessible at first.

It seems that the problem lies in the Qnap since I had no problems at all with my previous nas. Any Qnap owners with the same problem? I've had no access problems at all with any other software so could there be a bug in the recording service that it doesn't somehow properly check if the recordings are truly there? I'm running the latest recording service 1.6.2.3 Beta and Qnap has the latest firmware.

Well for me it sounds like a bug report for you nas manufacturer and not for the recording service...

Yes that's what I'm going to do and was just asking if anyone else have had the same problem. Also if somebody has any clue what could cause the problem... Information could be helpful identifying the problem on Qnap side because like I said I have suffered no other access issues with the nas but this.

I've been satisfied user of the DVBViewer for almost 5 years now, keep up the good work :)

I found out that the latest firmwares on all Qnap models suffer a bug which can cause in some situations smb access problems when using direct unc paths. The bug has been present on all firmwares released over the past few months so if anyone else has problems, use firmware 3.2.8 or earlier.
