what's free mpeg2 codec?

for xp and the mpeg2 (ac3 and h264 are already ok) is needed a pay-for-view codec or is there a free solution? (i dont' look for a torrent/emule/codec-pack)

ffdshow have a big audio/video lag here

Download and install the latest trial of PowerDVD. There's no need to buy, register, or even use it as it makes the codecs available to other programs. The codecs are good quality and will usually take advantage of hardware acceleration.
