SimonP Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 For the next update, could you make DVBv automatically detect and load .srt subtitle files if available and if subtitles are selected in 'Options' please? It's so frustrating that DVBv does almost everything else I need but I have to use a different program to watch films, etc. with external subtitle files. Thanks, and thank you for the great work you do with DVBv. Simon. Quote
Anony55 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I haven't gone to version 4.5 yet. But 4.2.1 does *.srt subtitles just fine. They show up as "stream(0)" in the the list. I have noticed that they seem to work better with *.avi files than other formats. My complaint is that I can't get them to come on automatically. When I'm playing down my playlists, I have to manually turn them on each time a new video on the list starts. But they do work. And the timing when used with avi files is perfect... at least in my case. Cheers Quote

SimonP Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 (edited) I haven't tried it with avi or mpg recently as they're old formats that I rarely use. It doesn't work at all with mkv, which IMHO is the only format worth bothering with, although it does work with mp4 (third best, after .ts files with either mpeg2 or h.264 video and built-in subtitles) so I guess my gripe is actually that it doesn't detect srt subtitles when matched with mkv files, and the fact that subtitles are not automatically selected, as Anony55 said. I am gradually merging my subtitle and mkv files but it takes ages and shouldn't really be necessary so I hope the wonderful programmers will fix this for us :-) Simon.
