crazymatt Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 Hi, I use DVBViewer as a compliment to XBMC where i have used the XBMC plugin "XBMC-Launcher" to launch external programs (in this case DVBViewer). What it does is simply launches the external program (DVBViewer) and minimize's XBMC, waits for the process that is launched to end (when i exit DVBViewer) and then resumes XBMC. This has worked flawlessly with all versions of 4.2 (both betas and real version). The problem i have is since 4.5 RC. The above procedure works once, but the second time i start DVBViewer 4.5 from within XBMC the DVBViewer process is started if i look in taskmanager but nothing happens and the process stops when it uses about 7000kb in memory. If i then kill XBMC, DVBViewer continues to load as normal. I have also tried this with the latest XBMC Dharma beta3 and the XBMC-plugin "Executor" so im pretty confident that this behavior is related some change in DVBViewer since 4.5 RC. This behavior is reproducable every time for me. Start XBMC -> launch DVBViewer -> exit DVBViewer -> XBMC Resumes -> Launch DVBViewer -> DVBViewer process starts in background but wont load until i hardkill XBMC process. PS (i dont have access to my HTPC at the moment so i cannot supply a support.zip file, if required let me know and i do it as fast as i can). Quote
defscan Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Hello I do the same thing but using Mediaportal and the Multishortcut plugin: minimizes mediaportal, launch DVBViewer, exit media portal, maximize mediaportal etc. etc. has been working flawlessly on 4.5 since it's public release. Hope that is of some use. Quote
jynkky Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 (edited) I'm facing the same issue. In my system DVBViewer starts up fine at the first time. It freezes on second time launched from xbmc if windows focus hasnt been somewhere else. Heres how I have bypassed this bug: Im using eventghost to handle remote controller keypresses. When exiting DVBViewer, eventghost first sets focus on one hidden window. After this xbmc takes focus and the hidden window never appears on the screen. With this I am able to launch DVBViewer several times from xbmc without problems. Without this, when DVBViewer hangs and I kill its process with task manager (focus changes to task manager) it will launch again by itself few seconds later. DVBViewer 4.5 version Hope this helps -J Edited December 19, 2010 by jynkky Quote
crazymatt Posted December 23, 2010 Author Posted December 23, 2010 I just upgraded to XBMC 10.0 and then i changed the option "window fullscreen" and used "true fullscreen" instead (i dont exactly remember the options in xbmc but you will understand when you see them). This workaround works for me, now i can close and open DVBViewer as many times as a want. The bug with DVBViewer still remains though and i doubt it will ever be fixed, official support seems to be lacking and up to endusers to find workarounds Quote

Dear DVBViewer devs you are now responisble for getting all...and I mean ALL third party software to work with DVBViewer...what a load of bull.... Quote
