Recording Service Crash

Recommended Posts

Last night the Recording Service did some recordings correctly. Then it seems it partially crashed. A couple of recordings ended up with just a few KB of size. When I opened the Web Interface this morning, on the Timer Tab the first recording on the list was one that had already passed... that is, it should not have been on the list. The Web Interface was responsive, but I could not open channels to watch them. So, not a complete crash, but it definitely stopped working correctly.

After restarting the service, the Timer interface updated correctly, I could open channels, and recordings began again.

I am attaching a support.zip file, taken while the DVBViewer Recording Service was "partially" crashed.

I had same problem.

If you go into dvbv, Settings/Options/Record Service and press "test Connection"

what happens then?, do you have connection when the problem is there?

If that is not working:

Check your IP address, in Settings/Hardware/Record Service, (here it had changed!! , from 127.0.0.1:8060 to 127.0.0.1:8089)

Check the IP here:click on "Service Options" choose "Web UPnP" ( in windows) Start/DVBViewer/DVBViewer Recording Service

compare the ports..! ) (last 4 digits)

If they are the same:Try to disable the firewall totally ( after restart of PC) and check again.

some notes:

In my case I had NO connection, but dvbv and Record Service WAS set up correctly, (only the IP was wrong I found out later) And dvbv WORKED anyway, only timers in RS worked only sometimes!!

sat-card set to "do not use" in Settings/options/hardware + under settings in Settings/options/hardware/settings, everything looked fine.

How that is possible, to watch TV when the IP is wrong, I have no idea!! firewall problems I guess? not sure...

The funny thing is: first time I checked the IP´s they where the same, first after turning OFF the firewall, it changed in "service Options" !!!! - maybe not possible, but it did... :)

...

I also used this:

http://www.DVBViewer.tv/forum/topic/38585-rs-sleep-record-sleep-ok-little-bug-improvement/

And I had to change the settings in "away mode" several times before it all of a sudden worked.

( like Win7 could not remember the settings)

I hope this will solve the problem, if not... ehmm try to reinstall RS and so on, check settings again.

Thanks for the suggestions. All of the settings you mentioned are correct, as should be confirmable from the support.zip file. As well, the computer the Recording Service is installed on NEVER goes to sleep and never hibernates.

In this case, I simply think that the Recording Service crashed. It happens occasionally. It's still beta software. Obviously these are things the programmers need to work out.

That being said, if there are any settings I can change that may make it crash less or not crash at all, please share!
