RedDwarf Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Does DVBV provide information on the type of signal a transponder transmits? I'm trying to determine whether a transponder is using DVB-S or DVB-S2 transmission. If so where do I find it? Quote
Derrick Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 If you use a card that doesn't care about the modulation parameters and determines everything automatically (apart from frequency and and symbol rate) you can't tell. You can try to look up the satellite delivery system in the NIT with the analyzer of Transedit, but ony few satellite operators provide correct parameters. Last not least you can evaluate the correct transmission parameters from the transponder mux rate with a calculator. Quote
Gioxy Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 ...or you can simply check the KingOfSat DVB-S2 transponder list... Quote

Thanks, the NIT does show the channel/transponder that I am interested in as using DVB-S while it shows other Sky encrypted channels as using DVB-S2, so it does look as I would expect. The calculator indicates 3 HD channels which is what is on the transponder although 2 share the same PID's but different channel names and are otherwise identical. They are 1440x1088i rather than the full 1920 resolution which might affect things. Quote
