djon Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Ok, I fought for 3 weeks now to get this to work, but am just about to give up. I have DVBViewer 4.5 Recording service 1.6.5.2 Terratec H5 with the newest BDA drivers I use DVB-C I can: Watch TV in DVBViewer Record in DVBViewer I cannot: Schedule a recording in recording service and get anything but a 0 B .ts file accompanied by the .log and .txt file UNLESS I: schedule a recording in RS start DVBViewer and let it tune into the channel requested by RS. If I do this, it records fine. However this somewhat reduces the point of scheduling recordings. In DVBViewer -> Hardware I have the following: Terratec H5 DVB-S (set to Do not use) Terratec H5 DVB-C Unicast Network device In RS -> Hardware I have Terratec H5 DVB-S (set to Do not use) Terratec H5 DVB-C (set to normal) I've read that the DVB-C device should be set to Do not use, so I tried this as well as all other possible settings. I read in another thread, that you should untick "Has CI module" and "Direct tuning" and set Retune on missing stream to 7, so I tried all this as well both in DVBViewer and in RS. I tried two different PCs, one Win XP and one with Win 7, they both act exactly the same. My signal is 100% in DVBViewer and also in all my TVs. My newest LG TV reports 97-100% signal quality and strength. I tried different cables, different plugs, tried making it the only cable in the splitter, so it doesn't share the signal with any other TVs at all. Nothing works. Can someone PLEASE help me how to get this to work?? (I realized maybe it's not a bug, so I made a new Topic in general to see if I could get help here instead of the Bug forum. Please delete the wrong thread) support.zip
desweil Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 http://en.DVBViewer.tv/wiki/Recording_Service_Installation_Guide You have to set the Hardware in DVBViewer to "do not use" and the unicast device to normal. In RS you set it to normal. follow the linked guide step by step and it will work!
djon Posted December 7, 2010 Author Posted December 7, 2010 Well, as you can read I did all this allready and nothing works. desweil Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 (edited) I see it's an USB Device. Maybe it goes in "energy saving" or something like that and won't come back when triggered by the RS. I think someone else had a similar problem with a USB device. Do Recordings work when you schedule and have DVBViewer turned on (on another channel)? Then RS should switch the running DVBViewer to the scheduled programm and record. If this works, can you close DVBViewer after recording start and have a full file? Do direct recordings via DVBViewer work? Have you tried "reset after standby" option? Does it work when you manually deactivate and activate the TV Tuner in Windows device manager instead of opening DVBViewer when a schedued recording is on? Edited December 7, 2010 by desweil

Do Recordings work when you schedule and have DVBViewer turned on (on another channel)? Then RS should switch the running DVBViewer to the scheduled programm and record. If this works, can you close DVBViewer after recording start and have a full file? Yes this works. However I can see that RS is MUCH slower at changing channels. It takes around 30 seconds before the new channel is showing correctly without any choppiness or hiccups. Do direct recordings via DVBViewer work? Yes, no problems there Have you tried "reset after standby" option? Yes, doesn't make a difference. Does it work when you manually deactivate and activate the TV Tuner in Windows device manager instead of opening DVBViewer when a schedued recording is on? I tried disabling and enabling, but no that doesn't help- I'm pretty sure that the problem lies in RS being slower at tuning making it restart over and over, but why is it slower?
TVFreak Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Okay my english is bad but i will try it. I use Terretac S7 usb box and i had same problem. record was okay if htpc was on, if rs starts from standby the device was "not avaible". for test 1- go in standby 2- wake htpc up with keyboard or mouse 3- start web-interface from RS and got to Status-Page. if you see there "NOT Avaible" at your H5 you have a problem with your pc an H5 the reason is the H5 didn't wake up from standby if usb-port has in standby power. normal you can set in in bios or per jumper. the point in bios is in my pc in section powersafe "can wake from standby with usb" or something else. if there is no point in bios or jumper, you can build an adapter by youself. but i can't explain it in english. hope you can understand this.
djon Posted December 7, 2010 Author Posted December 7, 2010 My PC hasn't been in standby at all when I have these issues, so I'm pretty sure this doesn't have anything to do with it. Also the DCB-C card shows fine under status.
bogdan1980 Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 i have htc hd xs model, identical to H5,same hardware, for me all is working ok in DVBViewer.
eustonstreet Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 I have exactly the same Recording Service problem using two Compro S350 DVB-T cards in Win 7 64 machine. Both tuners work ok when viewing from client PCs running DVBViewer and I can watch different channels on different transponders. However, when I set Recording Service timers to record different channels on different transponders at the same time only tuner one will record. Looking at the log tuner two is is repeatedly getting sent lots of 'retune' commands. I have tried different combinations of retune when data is missing & direct tuning mode & reset card after standby but nothing seems to fix the problem. Ian
RedDwarf Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 (edited) I'm having the same problem on two different windows XP installs, one of which is brand new. I did do some windows updates a few days back. I don't know whether the recording service has ever worked as I have not tried to record more than one channel at a time before. The log shows that two different tuners are being used but one recording (TS) on Tuner 1 is almost empty and the file is not playable. I can record two different channels/transponders using DVBViewer and the Videorecorder plugin. I have just installed service 1.6.2.3 to see if that works after trying the latest version 1.6.8.2. Just tried 1.5.0.31 and it is recording 2 channels correctly! So the problem seems to be with the newer recording services, unless it is a configuration problem, but I was not using 1.5.0.31 on my other windows install which was only setup just before Christmas, I installed the newest recording service version. So is there a known problem with the newer recording services? Mystique SaTiX-S2 Dual PCI-e with 1.0.1.9 driver which I will not update because all later drivers provide false quality reports Gigabyte GA-X48-DS5 Intel X48 chipset Zotac nVidia GT 240 Driver 6.14.11.9745 note that the support file shows the video card incorrectly.
