galmok Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I am trying to mute sound in DVBViewer when using AC3Filter as external post processing, but for some reason DVBViewer will not mute the sound. I also cannot use volume control (well I can, but the volume isn't changing). This only seems to be a problem if DVBViewer sends 5.1 channels to AC3Filter. If only 2 channels are sent, volume and mute works fine. Is there a good reason that 2.0 can be controlled yet 5.1 cannot? The sound comes from a DVB-T channel that has either 2.0 or 5.1 sound. I need AC3filter as my amplifier only accepts AC3 sound if I want to hear 5.1. This indicates the sound AC3Filter receives isn't AC3 format (or is my reasoning flawed?). 1 Quote
Griga Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 The sound comes from a DVB-T channel that has either 2.0 or 5.1 sound. Which country? Which audio format? AAC audio? I need AC3filter as my amplifier only accepts AC3 sound There is no way to control the volume in the PC when audio is sent via SPDIF to an external amp. You have to use the amp's volume control. galmok Posted January 29, 2011 Author Posted January 29, 2011 Country: Denmark Format: AAC LATM decoded using libfaad2 Wrapper Audio Renderer: DirectSound: Realtek Digital Output (SPDIF) Resulting sound encoded using AC3Filter as a post processing step in DVBViewer. I don't know where DVBViewer implements its volume control and mute control but apparently it seems to be after the post processing step, i.e. after AC3Filter. I hoped it would be between libfaad2 and AC3Filter... Quote
