Mars Warrior
About the majority of my movies that play fine on the same PC in other packages don't play and give me the cannot render mediafile error in DVBV. So I know the right codecs are installed on my system! Could someone give me a hint on where to look for the problem? It concerns: *.mkv files *.mpg files Media with external subtitles (I hope that works!!) TV, both SD and HD channels play fine in DVBV. Also live-TV streaming to iPhone / iPad works fine. And before I forget: these movies gave a black screen at first but after a D3D update (suggested by DVBV), now I get this cannot error! Quote Link to comment

Mars Warrior
And here is my support zip file. I installed service pack 1 before trying again. I got rid of the pin error somehow, black screen is back. The film just shows a black screen, nothing more. I ran gspot and gspot can render the mpeg2 file. src->Haali Media Splitter->Elecard MPEG-2 Video Decoder->Video Renderer src->Haali Media Splitter->AC3Filter->Default DirectSound Device I hope all this information helps to solve this weird problem. support.zip Quote Link to comment
amontillado
Did try changing the mpeg decoder to the Microsoft DTV and using the custom EVR renderer? Quote Link to comment
Mars Warrior
Just tried that, but same result. Black screen and no sound. Also tried different settings for Video A and B, and switched using the menu. Still nothing. Quote Link to comment
Mars Warrior
Update: MySeries does play mkv movies (and divx, xvid, avi, mpg). So what's so special and/or different to MyMovies Quote Link to comment
amontillado
Please verify that the same file also doesn't work DVBViewer's own mediacenter, to prevent us looking for the problem in the wrong place. Quote Link to comment

I wil do that once again, but sofar I tested both with the same results: black screen and no sound. TV is stopped btw when I start a movie. The progress indicator is also working. And no errors in the osderror.log and osd.log files. Quote Link to comment
Griga
What about TS recordings (*.ts files)? Can DVBViewer play them? Please try to play the *.mpg files with the TSPlayer (download from members area -> tools). Maybe it will shed a light on what's going on in your PC. Quote Link to comment
Mars Warrior
I found the problem I think, although I have no idea what I did, since the Wiki doens't describe the option yet. In Options - DirectX - Use DVBViewer Filter for, I unchecked the checkbox MPG/VOB. --> The MPG files do play without any problem now from within Mediacenter - Film and in MyMovies too.
