chrislloyd2 Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Hi, I've just purchased a cd/dvd double album of Bruce Springsteen and the Seeger Sessions Band. I have been playing the dvd with Cyberlink Powerdvd 7. The disc has a DD 5.1 soundtrack (compressed audio, yuk), but also has a LPCM 2.0 audio soundtrack with great res of 2300kbps which I assume is ~ 24bit 48khz quality, akin to blu ray audio. The disc plays ok using the Cyberlink software and the LPCM soundtrack. However, I have tried to play the disc using DVBViewer 4.8.* and although it accepts the DD 5.1 audio (ac3 of course) ok, the LPCM is a distorted mess (lots of noise over the signal - clearly not recognised correctly). Is there a setting or plugin for DVBViewer that will allow playback of the LPCM soundtrack? Also, while I post, any chance of you DVBViewer developers implementing bit perfect audio transfer out of DVBViewer, in Windows, using Microsoft WASAPI? Regards, Chris Quote
Griga Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Here LPCM 2.0 playback works. You are probably using the wrong audio decoder for DVD playback (see Options -> DirectX -> DVD options -> Audio). Try AC3 Filter. Also, while I post, any chance of you users taking note of "How to post problems/bugs correctly"? Quote
chrislloyd2 Posted June 10, 2011 Author Posted June 10, 2011 Hi Griga, I've been examining the audio decoder settings in some detail. None seem to work, same problem with all (inc ac3 filter). As regards your comments re posting correctly, I have looked at the link you suggested and I am at a loss to know what it is I have not done correctly. Regards Chris Quote
Griga Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 same problem with all (inc ac3 filter) Make sure that AC3 filter is really used when selected (see View -> Filters menu) and that LPCM is enabled on View -> Filters -> AC3 Filter -> property page -> System tab resp. start menu -> AC3 Filter -> AC3 Filter config -> System tab. and I am at a loss to know what it is I have not done correctly. Your Support.zip is missing. Quote
chrislloyd2 Posted June 12, 2011 Author Posted June 12, 2011 Hi Griga, Thanks for that. Ac3filter solved the problem nicely. I had attempted to use a version of it a year or two ago, but had problems with lag between video and audio. This version seems absolutely fine though, with all audio input types (ac3, mpeg, lpcm etc). Does ac3filter use Microsoft WASAPI for bit perfect output, or does it alter the signal in anyway. I have set it to (nochange) where ever possible regarding sampling rates, but i notice it produces a 'matrix' of the audio, in order for pcm output to work, and so I wonder if this is some sort of alteration. Your thoughts appreciated. Regards, Chris Quote
