Database backup fails when using dummy .ts

Hi!

To my horror i found a REALLY annoying behaviour of RS. I believe most of the people using RS has limited storage space, which makes saving of vast amounts of recordings impossible on their HTPC systems. As most of you already knows, to keep the recordings database intact, requires keeping the actual recording/mediafile. When you delete the recording the database entry of this recording will be removed upon next database cleaning/refresh. RS lacks an adequate backup option for us who are forced to delete recordings due to lack of space.

Now, Webturtle notified me there was a way to circumvent this RS rule. The method were:

- Copy the .log file to a subfolder of the RS recordings folder

- Move the .log file to the subfolder and in the same time change the extension to .ts (this file acts as the dummy .ts)

- Move the EPG information file .txt to the subfolder.

Upon refreshing database this recording entry got inserted into the db ok. This was a very smooth way to create a recordings database backup fully automated. But within approximately 5 days interval RS automatically deletes dummy .ts files older than 5 days in the subfolder. Consequently upon next refresh of database all recording entries older than 5 days were gone. RS seem to have a built in cleaning function executed with a 5 day interval for 0-5kB .ts files. RS seem to regard these .ts files as non-functional recordings and i can imagine this is the reason for they will be deleted in the first place. RS did not delete the .log and .txt files though, so the dummy files can be re-created, but doing that every 5 days is hopeless.

Therefor wondering if it would be possible to change this bahaviour of RS or simply make a proper database backup function for us who deletes the recordings some days after watching them? It is after all getting much more important keeping a complete database record, for upcoming RS features (prevent recording of reruns).

the recording service does not delete any ts files without action from the user.
