csloth Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Hi I've got a Technisat Cablestar Combo and use Recording Service to do timed recordings. When I setup the timer, the recording starts and runs perfectly fine, but when the recording is done, RS stops responding. What happens is that RS IS able to stop any data being written to the hard drive at the time the recording is scheduled to stop. But RS seems to be unable to stop the hardware (the tray icon stays red as if its still recording - (but it isn't) - The light on the Technisat indicating that it's 'tuned' is still on and RS stops responding. Webserver/Mediaserver doesn't work as well). If I disconnect the Technisat from the computer and the reconnects it, RS works again, the tray turns orange etc. It happens with nearly every recording and sometimes when I try to stop a webstream. I seem to be able to switch channels in DVBViewer with no problems. I've tried different USB-ports/cables, I've tried every possible hardware settings in the RS config-interface, I've tried disabling thumbnail-creation which another thread suggested could cause trouble. I've tried extended logging but no useful info. I'm running Win7 and the latest versions of DVBViewer & RS. Please let me know if you've got any suggestions. Thank you!
csloth Posted July 11, 2011 Author Posted July 11, 2011 forgot to mention that it happens mostly when recording HD-channels.
majstang Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 (edited) A typical behaviour when RS and DVB-card driver doesn't play nice together. You can't do much about it in RS. Focus on the driver and if using the latest version revert to an older one. Read up on the manufacturers site on how to remove the driver...sometimes there is more to it than simply uninstalling it from the device manager. The issue can also be hardware related...meaning your tuner may be faulty. Edited July 12, 2011 by majstang

It hasn't been updated for a long time.
csloth Posted July 12, 2011 Author Posted July 12, 2011 Pleas post your support.zip Sorry - here is the support.zip support.zip
majstang Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Ok, there is definitely something strange going on with tuner 2 according to the debug logs. Try to disable tuner 2 in RS configuration program. Rightclick systray icon and choose configure. On hardware tab mark tuner 2 and disable it. Record something and see if issue persists. If issue is still there disable tuner 1 and activate tuner 2 and redo the recording test.
csloth Posted July 13, 2011 Author Posted July 13, 2011 Tuner 2 is the only one I use. That's the cable tuner. Tuner 1 is the DVB-T tuner. I've tried to disable tuner 1, but I still got problems

csloth Posted July 14, 2011 Author Posted July 14, 2011 Does RS crash when recording free to air channels or only encrypted channels? Or both? Both. The thing I've noticed is that it seems to happen more often when RS is recording HD channels. Also I think it's more likely to happen with longer recordings. For instance the other day it was able to stop a 10-minute test-recording, but trying to record a 1hour+ program ends with a crash.
majstang Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Ok, it doesn't seem to be a problem with the CI then, since both fta and encrypted channels crash RS. Searching this forum one can find several folks using this very tuner without the issues you are describing. My best guess is you have a faulty tuner on your hands.
csloth Posted July 14, 2011 Author Posted July 14, 2011 yea, maybe that's it. Thanks for your help. When I can think of nothing else to do I'll try to do a complete reinstall of DVBViewer+RS+drivers. Not very optimistic that it'll do any good though,
csloth Posted July 22, 2011 Author Posted July 22, 2011 Strange. For the past few days it has worked perfectly. Still wonder what's wrong..
