Hi to everybody,

I have purchased two weeks ago a new skystar hd2 pci card ( Technisat) but i am having problem watching S2 channels with h.264 video and ac3 audio.

When i switch to S2 channels after approx 20 minutes, i lose the signal ( zero Signal ) on all S2 channels and I must restart win 7 ultimate to get it again.

Watching mpeg channels this problem never occur. This is strange because when i get zero signal on S2 channels i can get signal on mpeg channelsand with h.264 video and mpeg1 audio.

I am sure that isn't a codec or software problem (I am using DVBViewer last version demo in order to buy it and test it) or a pc problem. I have tried everything but problem is not solved. Same problem with DVBDream and ProgDvb. Same problem on other pc and on other receiving sistem.

I have read that other people have same problem and one of theese was talking about a smd resistor soldered horizontally otherwise vertically.

I am attaching pictures of my card that have this strange resistor. Can somebody help me? I am a new user on HD but since two weeks ago I had great performance from SS2 Skystar rev 2.3

I believe that is a skystar hd2 card problem. Please help me i am get very crazy.

Thanks to everybody and i apologize for my bad english since I am writing from Italy.

Best regards, Linusjey

Hi Linus,

very interesting finding.

I have similar problems with my Skystar HD2. Am trying to find a solution since months, if not years.

Just googled a bit, and found this thread here in this forum. http://www.DVBViewer.tv/forum/topic/41294-need-help/

The guy there found a difference in how the SMD-resistors where soldered and placed. Unfortunately, there was no feedback whether any of his tries to fix it had success.

I will have a look at my Skystar HD2 too to see, whether the resistors are soldered and placed the same way.

..to rule out the influence of directx (codecs etc.) you could open a S2-transponder with transedit's analyzer and let it run for a while.

Thanks for the answers,

I will try with transedit and will see what happens.

However my working conditions are:

MOBO: ASUS M3A78 (last bios inside)

CPU: AMD ATHLON II X4 - 620 (QUAD CORE) - 2600 MHZ

MEMORY: 4 GIGABYTE KINGSTON HYPER ( 2 STICKS )

VIDEO CARD: NVIDIA GFORCE GT 240 - 2 GIGABYTE PCIe

Codec used by DVBViewer demo ( waiting to buy registered version ):

VIDEO MPEG2: ARCSOFT

VIDEO H.264: ARCSOFT

VIDEO VC_1 : ARCSOFT

RENDERER VIDEO : EVR CUSTOM VIDEO RENDERER

AUDIO MPEG: MICROSOFT DTV/DVD AUDIO DECODER

AUDIO MP3 : ELECARD AUDIO DECODER

AUDIO AC3 : FFDSHOW AUDIO DECODER

AUDIO AAC : DIVX AUDIO DECODER

RENDERER AUDIO : DEFAULT DIRECT SOUND DEVICE

regards to Goggo16 and Derrick... please stay tuned, grazie by Linusj

Hi, tested my card with transedit today, and, same problem. After about 20 minutes the card have losed signal on S2 channels. Tested again Transedit after signal losed but no signal anymore only on S2, the other channels are ok . Rebooted SO, signal again on S2 and after some minutes again black-out.

No codec or software problem on the sistem. Cards became hot and crash only on S2 channels????

Please suggestions... I have to send back my card in Technisat assistence?????
