duja Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 I have started to test XBMC with DVBViewer RS via UpNp. The playing of the channels works great, no errors or what so ever. However, what I find a bit tricky is to use my own grouping of channels that I have in DVBViewer in XBMC. Is there a way to make custom groups of channels that are sent out via UpNp to XBMC? Currently I choose the right provider and then "All channels". But this list is huuuuge. I would like to have my sorting/grouping that I have in DVBViewer. Sport >Channel 1 >Channel 2 etc.. Movies > Channel 10 > Channel 11 > Channel 12 .. Documentary > Channel 21 > Channel 22 .. Is that possible to accomplish with the current version of RS? /D
Mr Rimmer Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 I'm afraid for whatever reason, the devs seem totally disinterested in supporting favourite channels. There's been a big thread somewhere else about it. Without it, the family just aren't interested in using it.

There's been a big thread somewhere else about it. Without it, the family just aren't interested in using it. I can't see why. Sending out a group of my favorite channels via UpNp doesn't seem to hard to do? It already has "All channels" and "A-Z" which contains 200+ channels to look through. Sending out a favorite list there would make the life easier for everyone. In fact, it could send out my favorite list including the folders I have in it just to be able to group on more levels in the favorite list. Would be good to get Lars opinion on this?
Mr Rimmer Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 (edited) They've had since September 2009 (at least) to come up with a reason. http://www.DVBViewer.tv/forum/topic/36349-show-favourite-channels-in-recording-service/ Edited September 20, 2011 by Mr Rimmer
duja Posted September 20, 2011 Author Posted September 20, 2011 Strange that they haven't said anything. They usually write something! Hope they see this and give their opinion/thoughts.

Tjod Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 You have to sort you channel list in the channel list editor in DVBViewer. Favourites are not supported by the Recording Service.
ZappoB Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 With the channellist-editor I see also no use for favorites, but I would appreciate, if I could choose one directory of the list to be the only one listed, eg. with checkboxes.
duja Posted October 6, 2011 Author Posted October 6, 2011 I have a long long list of channels. Why can't it just get support for favorites that I could put my "most used" channels in and problem solved. I could group my favorite channels into group, sort them etc. Would be perfect to have in e.g XBMC
MaxB Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 (edited) You can creat your own Transponderlist and scan only the Transponders by this way. The neyt Step should be manually sorting only the services and ad them to your DVBViewer Channellist. I did this four my DVB-S-Server by using Transedit. Yes, it is a lot of work, but if you do this you will be happy and have only the channels in your channellist, that you want to watch and it's easy to sort the channellist for the Recording Service Edit: One more Info if you want to get a sortet channellist for UPNP: You can rename every channalname and if you want a sortet channellist try to add numbers in the names like this: old : Das Erste, ZDF, Sat1, RTL... new: 001 Das Erste, 002 ZDF, 003 Sat1, 004 RTL... But if you use the Logos in the Rec.-Service or in the DVBViewer OSD keep in mind, that you have to rename the images too! Example: 001 das erste.png, 002 ZDF.png, 003 Sat1.png I don' know if this is the best way because it's a lot of work, but it's possible with DVBViewer and Rec.-Service Edited October 7, 2011 by MaxB
duja Posted October 11, 2011 Author Posted October 11, 2011 Ok. Thanks for the info. It is one way of doing it, but it is still a workaround from the favorites.
