Some ideas and mentioned errors

Dear colleagues,

I would prefer to see in the next version of DVBViewer the following improvements:

  1.
  2. The channels names could be encoded by various ways by various providers (it concerns first of all non-Latin alphabets). My cable provider in Russia sends the channels names in Cyrillic letters, encoding ISO 8859-5. So after each scanning the Channellist appears as full abracadabra which should be corrected only manually. I think each Network ID should be associated by the user with the particular encoding from a menu.

  3. In Russian and Bulgarian, the Search label of the Channellist is not shown properly by Cyrillic letters, the same is in the EPG Window:

    By the way, "540 channel(s)" should be translated into Russian too…

  4. There is no possibility to use the alternative (Listtv, JTV, XMLTV, MediaPortal, RSS…) TV programme instead of EPG. Sometimes it is important because the TV programmes placed in the Internet often covers a wider period than EPG. In my case EPG is available for three days while for most Russian channels the programme is available in the Internet till Sunday of the next week.

  5. Some channels broadcast EPG for the timezone different from the default one so there is a need to set the time correction of the default settings for each channel separately.

  6. There is no obvious way to stop a scheduled recording, only by removing the task from the Timer. Where is a big Stop button? :rolleyes:

  7. At least, integration with Windows Task Scheduler 2.0 used by Windows Vista/7, both in x32 and x64 versions (DVB Task Scheduler currently doesn't support XML jobs)! Supporting waking up the PC before recording…

I think that's all for the moment…

1. Use TransEdit for scanning and export the results to DVBViewer. It should yield correct channel names on Russian PCs using codepage 1251 as default. Read more about it here.

2.

Interesting why it is not translated some words in Channelist window?

In a language file (Russian.lng) these words are used:

[tvchannels]

pnlLook.Caption=&Поиск

[Display]

41=%d канал(ов) %s

4=фильтрованный

I have corrected it replacement of these words of "hieroglyphs" by English words (in file Russian.lng):

[tvchannels]

pnlLook.Caption=Search

[Display]

41=%d channel(s) %s

4=filtered

I can suppose why. When I programmed in Delphi it meant that in the properties of the particular caption or label the Cyrillic encoding was not set. It means that, while changing the language, the encoding of all the concerned captions and labels should be changed too.

Maybe (thouhg I think it is not a solution) but there is an other issue: CAM module menu is in ISO 8859-5 too (and don't answer that I should use English in CAM menu, it is not a solution too).
