majstang Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Hi! I'm somewhat confused why the "exclude from EPG" check box was removed. I used it to remove unwanted channels from RS Timeline EPG and DVBViewer EPG. Now i can't even hide the dummy channel on postition 0 in RS Timeline or the other channels i don't want to show. It is probably so i have missed the alternative ways to do the same thing completely. If there are any alternatives let me know?! Change: EPG Display: The "exclude from EPG" flag is obsolete.Change: Channel List Editor: Removed the "exclude from EPG" check box. Change: Channel List Editor: Added a RDS check box. Lars_MQ Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Just exclude the unwanted channels from internal EIT EPG reception. It's two controls to the right where the Exclude from EPG checkbox was. Quote
majstang Posted April 30, 2012 Author Posted April 30, 2012 Just exclude the unwanted channels from internal EIT EPG reception. It's two controls to the right where the Exclude from EPG checkbox was. Unchecking everything in that control was the first thing I tried when seeing the Exclude from EPG checkbox was gone, cuz that has worked before way back, but it doesn't anymore. I did uncheck everything, saved and the channel still shows up in RS (after stop and start). I even deleted the channels dat/bak and did a new scan thinking something was wrong with my old channels.dat. That made no difference. It is impossible to hide channels now in RS Quote
Tjod Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 If you disable the receiving of EPG for a channel, you have to delete the epg.dat or wait until the saved EPG is expired. Quote
majstang Posted April 30, 2012 Author Posted April 30, 2012 (edited) If you disable the receiving of EPG for a channel, you have to delete the epg.dat or wait until the saved EPG is expired. Yes, that is correct! If receiving of EPG for a channel has been disabled no EPG data shows up for this channel. However the channel is still present in the RS Timeline channellist. And that is the whole point. With the Exclude from EPG option you could hide the channel entirely and that is no longer possible annoyingly enough. I don't know exactly what Lars meant when saying it was obsolete. I think it's perfect having such a possibility to hide channels that you're not using at the moment, instead of deleting them. When you need them this will force us to rescan all channels to bring them back, which is tedious IMHO. Or living with a huge RS channellist. Also I think many people are using a dummy channel at channellist position 0 to get the first important channel at position 1. If doing that the dummy will show up in RS Timeline as channel number 1. Hopefully you'll reconsider this move Regards Majstang Edited April 30, 2012 by majstang Quote
Lars_MQ Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Why don't you use the filter and favorites setting? Quote
majstang Posted April 30, 2012 Author Posted April 30, 2012 Why don't you use the filter and favorites setting? Sorry, im not familiar with that method, but please do tell more about it. I did found that "Show channels without EPG" option in RS webinterface - Configuration - Show Tv + Radio was checked, so unchecking it did the trick. Now all unwanted channels are gone from RS Timeline Quote
