ChrisC Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Just updated to latest version, tried to scan ABC's HD NET, Transedit found the channels and I selected them, but the Add / Update button is still grayed out. Odd though, the Export button becomes active. Do I somehow have to use it to get my channels added to the Viewer Channel List? Also, Help in both Viewer and Transedit are grayed out...I suppose I've done some thing wrong, but What? Thanks for some guidance, Chris Quote
Tjod Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Add / Update button is still grayed out.Put the TransEdit.exe in the \DVBViewer folder (the same place where the DVBViewer.exe is). Also, Help in both Viewer and Transedit are grayed out...I suppose I've done some thing wrong, but What? You need TransEdit.chm and TransEditHelp.ini in the same folder. The best way to install TransEdit is via Start Menu > Programs > DVBViewer > DVBViewer Pro Downloader and select there Transedit an Transedit Manual. This will place everything in the right folder. ChrisC Posted May 24, 2012 Author Posted May 24, 2012 Well...I got the TransEdit Help to work....stupid me. My desktop icon was pointing to my 'Download Storage Location' instead of the DVBViewer folder. I'm not sure how this ever worked before I upgraded. The help on the DVBViewer App still won't work. (Grayed-out) I tried - Start > All Programs > DVBViewer > DVBViewer Pro Help, but it also can't find the .chm file. I looked in the DVBViewer folder and no DVBViewer.chm there; Is that a separate download like the TransEdit Help? I tried the DVBViewer Pro Downloader app, but nothing noted there or on the members download page about a separate help file. Also, Now that I'm pointed to the correct folder, all my previously stored sat's aren't shown in the TransEdit window. Any way to bring these back into TransEdit? I've got a copy of my old Transponders folder....The Viewer Channel List seems OK though, but I don't want to lose it by messing with TransEdit if something isn't right there. Thanks For Your Time and Advice, Chris Quote
ChrisC Posted May 24, 2012 Author Posted May 24, 2012 For anyone interested: I finally (right or wrong) ended up opening my old transponders list and saved each usable Sat as something more descriptive other than a number to a temporary location. Then in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\CMUV\DVBViewer\transponders folder, I moved all the (seemingly useless in my case) .ini files to a safe location, and then copied all my .ini files from the temporary location to the, I assume, proper CMUV\DVBViewer\transponders folder. All seems to work. Fingers now crossed waiting for disaster. One question here, if you please, I found another Transponders folder located in the C:\Program Files\DVBViewer folder. I renamed this and seemed to have no effect. Can I remove this folder to clear some confusion? Only issue, I hope, is the missing help files for DVBViewer. I tried reinstalling ... no joy. Any Ideas? - For sure appreciated. Thanks Much, Chris Quote
QBox User Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 I think the Transponder folder in the Program folder was for XP, but it was moved to a User folder for Vista/7. You may also find another Transponder folder in the Backup folder under config. You may need to restore your transponder files again after some upgrades. There's no help file for DVBViewer Pro, AFAIK. The web-page has a link to a manual but it's not up-to-date. You're meant to use the Wiki, or ask here. Quote

Well, I guess I failed to state I'm running XP on this machine. My Technotrend isn't supported under win7 as far as I know. Right now I'm running with the Transponder folder in the 'User' area, and seems to work under XP. Do you think I'll have an issue if I leave it that way? I found the transponders folder in the backup folder. I guess I need to see if that's actually working. I assume that it is automatically populated??? Or is there some function I need to run to back-up my transponders? I've alway just copied them to an off-machine location on the LAN before upgrading....Learned that lesson the hard way. Thanks for Your Knowledge, Chris Quote
QBox User Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 (edited) The backup is done by the most recent installation files, following a name change to the transponder ini files. I'm not sure they do it every time - maybe only if the backup files don't exist. It's best to make your own regular back-ups of the config folder. Here's the proper explanation for the program files folder. Forget what I wrote earlier. Transponder folders Edited May 24, 2012 by QBox User Quote
