Shrubsole Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 If you have a hauppage dvb-s2 card and are having problems scaning in the BBC Olympic HD channels (Zero Signal) then you need to add the following to your registry and all will spring to life. Copy each section separately to notepad and then save it as ######.reg (###### can be any different name file each of the 6 frequencies) Then double click on then and click OK to import each one into your registry. You should then be able to scan them in and all will be fine. (Note this is a problem with these cards and not DVBViewer.) Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\hcw88bda\DVBS_Params\11914000] "broadcast_type"="DVB-S2" "fec_inner"=dword:00000003 "modulation"=dword:0000001f "pilot"=dword:00000000 "polarization"=dword:00000001 "rolloff"=dword:ffffffff "symbol_rate"=dword:01c22260 "unique_key"="28.2E ASTRA 2, EUROBIRD 1" Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\hcw88bda\DVBS_Params\12129000] "broadcast_type"="DVB-S2" "fec_inner"=dword:00000003 "modulation"=dword:0000001f "pilot"=dword:00000000 "polarization"=dword:00000002 "rolloff"=dword:ffffffff "symbol_rate"=dword:01c22260 "unique_key"="28.2E ASTRA 2, EUROBIRD 1" Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\hcw88bda\DVBS_Params\12304000] "broadcast_type"="DVB-S2" "fec_inner"=dword:00000003 "modulation"=dword:0000001f "pilot"=dword:00000000 "polarization"=dword:00000001 "rolloff"=dword:ffffffff "symbol_rate"=dword:01c22260 "unique_key"="28.2E ASTRA 2, EUROBIRD 1" Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\hcw88bda\DVBS_Params\12402000] "broadcast_type"="DVB-S2" "fec_inner"=dword:00000003 "modulation"=dword:0000001f "pilot"=dword:00000000 "polarization"=dword:00000002 "rolloff"=dword:ffffffff "symbol_rate"=dword:01c22260 "unique_key"="28.2E ASTRA 2, EUROBIRD 1" Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\hcw88bda\DVBS_Params\12422000] "broadcast_type"="DVB-S2" "fec_inner"=dword:00000003 "modulation"=dword:0000001f "pilot"=dword:00000000 "polarization"=dword:00000001 "rolloff"=dword:ffffffff "symbol_rate"=dword:01c22260 "unique_key"="28.2E ASTRA 2, EUROBIRD 1" Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\hcw88bda\DVBS_Params\12441000] "broadcast_type"="DVB-S2" "fec_inner"=dword:00000003 "modulation"=dword:0000001f "pilot"=dword:00000000 "polarization"=dword:00000002 "rolloff"=dword:ffffffff "symbol_rate"=dword:01c22260 "unique_key"="28.2E ASTRA 2, EUROBIRD 1" Quote
Shrubsole Posted July 29, 2012 Author Posted July 29, 2012 ??? Some Hauppage dvb-s2 cards require settings like the above added to the registry before they will tune in some s2 channels. My own would just not tune them in at all and reposted zero signal when trying to scan the BBC Olympic HD channels. Yet on my other sat card, they tuned in normally without any problems. The above settings I had to work out for myself and add then all by hand. So I thought that I would post them here so that if anyone else is having similar problems, the solution is easy as I done all the hard work. Simply cut and past each section into notepad and save as a separate file with .reg at the end of the filename. Double clicking on each of the 6 files will add that entry to the registry for each of the 6 BBC Olympic HD transponders. After doing that the channels will scan in just like any other channels. This is a well known bug with these cards and people have had problems in the past with some BBC HD and Channel 4 HD channels. If you are not having the problem, then do nothing! Quote
davidnugget Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Thanks a lot for this! DVBViewer is very good but does need more expertise than I have, particularly when the BBC changes anything. Everything worked after I discovered that you can't have blank lines in reg files, if you do you get the most misleading error message I have come across.\Thanks again. Quote
davidnugget Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 P.S. I should have said "Dbviewer and associated stuff is very good but ..." as I realise that the fault here is with the card not the software. Quote
