stax
I've finally bought a new mobo after more than 4 years and therefore have to configure a new Windows setup, while doing this I'll also update DVBViewer to the latest version. Restoring my data from my backup I noticed DVBViewer stored the settings at: C:\ProgramData\CMUV\DVBViewer and the directory ProgramData is hidden by default and little to no other application use it to save settings, the most popular location by far is: C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming Overall I've backed up settings of 6 applications, and all except DVBViewer all use this directory. They are like DVBViewer all great, I'm sure many other here use or know them: xbmc, MediaMonkey, VLC, Firefox, Thunderbird Quote Link to comment
Tjod
%PROGRAMDATA% > C:\ProgramData\ %APPDATA% > C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming http://en.DVBViewer.tv/wiki/Multiuser_mode#UserMode.3D1 It depends if you like settings per user or the same settings for all user. An for a background service like the RS you can't use the per user folder. directory ProgramData is hidden by default AppData as well Quote Link to comment
stax
Thanks for the info, I've changed it now to per user, does that mean I can't use the record service at all now? Quote Link to comment
Tjod
Yes UserMode=1 and the RS will result in problem. You need one configuration folder for your user and the system account. And %PROGRAMDATA% is the correct folder for that. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/patricka/archive/2010/03/18/where-should-i-store-my-data-and-configuration-files-if-i-target-multiple-os-versions.aspx Quote Link to comment
