how to receive free channel from Charter Cable

I subscribe Charter internet+ TV now.

I heard from my friend that if I buy a atsc tuner and plug the cable, I can receive the free local TV signal like ABC KTTV(FOX) in both HD and SD format.

So I bought a AverTV hybrid volar Max TV tuner from ebay and install it to my computer today.

But I can't scan any channel by using DVBViewer.

Can anybody teach me how to set DVBViewer so that I can watch local TV on DVBViewer?

Scanning is best done using TransEdit. Your device should be detected automatically, though I don't know whether it's cable or ATSC. I expect you should select the "America Cable" transponder list, with filter for FTA.
