Przemek211 Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 Hello, what is the best way to stream TV for Android device with Recording Service?

Przemek211 Posted October 13, 2013 Author Posted October 13, 2013 Thanks for your answer. I downloaded app from google play, it works nice, synchronized channel list and logos from RecService, however "Switch to channel" option doesn't work. I think it should change the channel in DVBViewer clients of RecSvr? Stream option works, but HD channels are dropping frames and losing the sound. Looks like too difficult for my SGS. I tried to use lower quality of stream, but that doesn't help. SD channels works great.
HaraldL Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 I have good results with combination of BuppleUPnP + MX Player. HD channels run fine over WLAN with my Nexus4. Only issue: Sometimes streaming is interrupted at start or end of commercials when aspect ratio changes (i.e. movie 16:9, commercials 4:3). BubbleUPnP + VLC showed massive problems with all HD channels and worked only with SD channels.
Cjay Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 I like "Sat>IP". It's not free, but the cost is trivial. I've tried other means (like Bubble & MX as well as Recording Service Controller) and this seems a much simpler and better quality way of watching. Also channel changing is so much easier. It's so straightforwards that it runs on a Nook tablet as my kitchen TV. Only thing that bugs me is channel sorting & deleting unwanted channels. Anyone figured an easy way of doing this?
VinoRosso Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 however "Switch to channel" option doesn't work. I think it should change the channel in DVBViewer clients of RecSvr? Is it so hard to read the description in the Play Store?
SimonP Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 (edited) Recording Service 1.27.0.0 from DVB-S2 tuner / DVBViewer 5.1.0.0 / Android App 1.0.4 on Nexus 4 'phone running Android 4.3 (using MXplayer for video) I'm trying out the app on an existing and fully working setup of DVBViewer fed from the Recording Service but having lots of problems streaming live TV to my 'phone. Some channels work but most load the video player then it immediately says "Can't play this video" which doesn't tell me much. I tried different stream speeds and that doesn't make any difference, neither does changing the FFMPEG preset. It seems as if there is some connection with the last channel viewed in DVBViewer. The only way I can make it work as expected is to select the channel I want to watch in DVBv, then open the app and I can then stream from that channel but if I try to change to another channel (presumably on a different mux) it won't let me. This is obviously unsatisfactory but I'm out of ideas for what else to do to get it working properly. Can anyone help please? Some general comments on the app: * At the bottom of the Status page it says "Aufnahmeordner" which needs translating to English. * A mention of the app version number would be useful there (I had to look it up in the Play Store). * The app doesn't release the tuner immediately so if I close the app and open DVBViewer, I have to wait before I can change channels. * Creating timers appears to work but it would be nice to see something in the app's EPG to show that one is set. * When setting it up I was looking at the port numbers but they don't seem to tie in with those in the RS config section. the defaults seem to work but that confused me. * HD streaming is jerky, even at the highest setting. Could we have a pass-through setting with no transcoding? (I have quad core processors in both computer and 'phone and 802.11n Wi-Fi so I'm guessing the transcode is slowing it down as I can stream 1080p video directly from my computer to 'phone smoothly). * Regarding VinoRosso's comment above, "Switch to channel" does nothing here either and there is nothing about it in the Play Store page, unless you are referring to the Webinterface Plugin? SimonP Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Only thing that bugs me is channel sorting & deleting unwanted channels. Anyone figured an easy way of doing this? You have to sort the channels in DVBViewer's Channel Editor. Either drag them into the order you want in the default display (left pane) or click 'Edit favourites' and drag them over in the order you want them (and remember to save afterwards).

The app doesn't release the tuner immediately so if I close the app and open DVBViewer, I have to wait before I can change channels. Issue of your player or Recording Service Creating timers appears to work but it would be nice to see something in the app's EPG to show that one is set. This information is not contained in the epg xml, so no, there is no way to indicate that. When setting it up I was looking at the port numbers but they don't seem to tie in with those in the RS config section. the defaults seem to work but that confused me. ?? You have to enter the port numbers which you are using... HD streaming is jerky, even at the highest setting. Could we have a pass-through setting with no transcoding? (I have quad core processors in both computer and 'phone and 802.11n Wi-Fi so I'm guessing the transcode is slowing it down as I can stream 1080p video directly from my computer to 'phone smoothly). Why are you not using the direct stream option at the top of the streaming page? which is hard to miss... unless you are referring to the Webinterface Plugin "If you install the additional Webinterface Plugin, which is available in the DVBViewer Customer area, you can also remote control a DVBViewer client." Im refering to that. Edited October 20, 2013 by VinoRosso
SimonP Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 > Do you even have more than one tuner? No, just the one but this issue does not occur in DVBViewer and obviously I am not trying to use DVBv and the app at the same time. > Issue of your player or Recording Service I disagree, everything else is working perfectly. > This information is not contained in the epg xml, so no, there is no way to indicate that. OK, thanks. Maybe it would be worth talking to the authors of the RS to get them to include it? > ?? You have to enter the port numbers which you are using... My point is that the app uses different terminology to the RS. The RS talks about Web Server, Stream Server, Control Server, etc. while the app talks about Recording Service, Streaming Ports, DVBViewer Port, etc. You should use the same terms as the RS to avoid confusion. > Why are you not using the direct stream option at the top of the streaming page? which is hard to miss... Sorry, I did miss that. I immediately looked at the Transcoded Streaming section and expected it to be under 'Quality'. > "If you install the additional Webinterface Plugin, which is available in the DVBViewer Customer area, you can also remote control a DVBViewer client." Im refering to that. The description in the Play Store does not refer to "Switch to channel" (which is what you implied), I could only guess that that was what you meant. I realise that English is not your first language but could you try to give me some help with this problem of not being able to change channels properly please? I don't believe I have done anything wrong so helping me to fix this will help the app as well.
VinoRosso Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 (edited) > Do you even have more than one tuner? No, just the one but this issue does not occur in DVBViewer and obviously I am not trying to use DVBv and the app at the same time. > Issue of your player or Recording Service I disagree, everything else is working perfectly. The App just gives a url to a player, everything else is handled by the player and the Recording Service. This can not be adressed from my side, and is a player issue of releasing resources or a Recording Service issue. Try if the behaviour is different if you stream over the webinterafce. The description in the Play Store does not refer to "Switch to channel" (which is what you implied), I could only guess that that was what you meant. Switching channels is kind of "remote control a DVBViewer Client", You have to install the Webinterface Plugin. My point is that the app uses different terminology to the RS. The RS talks about Web Server, Stream Server, Control Server, etc. while the app talks about Recording Service, Streaming Ports, DVBViewer Port, etc. You should use the same terms as the RS to avoid confusion. Web Server, Stream server and Control Server etc. are different things and this information is not required for the app Edited October 21, 2013 by VinoRosso
LuPoX Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 im ussing the the metode with bubble but can see the channels who need h a d u, can some one help me?
SimonP Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I forgot to update my comments in this thread. Eventually I did a full uninstall-reinstall of DVBv and the Recording Service and everything started working as expected, despite the fact that it appeared to be working correctly on my computer. I am now really happy with the Android app, it has its quirks but works very well and is reliable so thanks VinoRosso and sorry for the complaints before.
SimonP Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Having got past those earlier problems I really love this app and use it almost daily - so easy for scheduling recordings as well as watching TV on the 'phone or tablet, so thanks once again and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants DVBv on the go. Have you considered adding Chomecast support or even some way of integrating it with Plex? (I've just got a Chromecast and screen-casting the controller works but being able to 'cast' it properly would be even better and would allow smooth HD video).
