lujo Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 (edited) Hi, I want to install Recording services on my Windows Home Server v1. Is it possible to install this service without DVBViewer application on this server? On my main Windows pc I will install DVBViewer to scan for channels. Is this the best version what I need to use? Is there any "stable" not beta version? Recording Service use some of the resources from DVBViewer. Recording Service has always been Beta, but my experience is that all versions has been very stable. Quote
Derrick Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Is it possible to install this service without DVBViewer application on this server? I guess in principle yes, though I don't know whether the licensing system works with a RS installation without DVBViewer. Recording Service use some of the resources from DVBViewer. Which one should that be? Maybe the channels.dat Quote
Tjod Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Installing the DVBViewer is necessary, The RS has no channel list management capabilities. Quote
McenterFreak Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 I guess in principle yes, though I don't know whether the licensing system works with a RS installation without DVBViewer. As i remenber Recording Service will not install if DVBViewer is not installed. But why is this an issue. Just install DVBViewer!!! You need it anyway to scan channels (you can of course use transedit, but you need to import it to DVBViewer, before you can use it in Recording Service) Quote
Derrick Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 But why is this an issue. ..not an issue but a question The RS has no channel list management capabilities. ..even worse, it doesn't support favorites. Recording Service has always been Beta.. IMHO it's time to make RS a fully self supporting application with channel management etc. via a new web server Quote
Derrick Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Hi, I want to install Recording services on my Windows Home Server v1. You have to install BDA support first. Quote
MaxB Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 You have to install BDA support first. NO, both WHS-Versions (V1 & 2011) work without a seperate installation of BDA-support! Quote

Maybe I remember the people still, not on Windows server to respond Quote
