What are the benefits of moving to Media Server?

I've used Recording Service for many years. I use it to schedule and record Freesat TV programmes. I tend to watch them through Kodi. I use the web interface to manage and schedule the recordings, mainly with auto record searches.

 

I've seen mention of the media service but its descriptions are quite technical.

 

I just wonder, in usage terms, what benefits it would bring to me?

One benefit for me that  I can see is : by buying Media Server I contribute to future development of the DVBViewer concepts :-)

The Benefit is it will work with future DVBViewer Versions.

That is not guaranteed for the RS.

Is the individual demand not the same as what I use it for?
