Job48 Posted January 11, 2005 Posted January 11, 2005 (edited) @programmers & beta-testers first of all, congrats for the high degree of compatibility of the present beta, even in the less common functions, like STB (OSD) and IR remote. Although I am a strong believer in the principle "never change a running system" I gave the 2.3 beta a try last week, and I must say, I was really impressed. I only noticed two small drawbacks as compared to R2.1: the functions of OSD up and down were switched and - a little more annoying - when trying to start video playback while timeshift is active, the system gets stuck and can only be recovered via the error message window. I will post this in the bug report sction of the forum. My main problem however is, that I obviously don't understand the documentation of the streaming function of the DVBViewer filter V2. I (hopefully) read everything that was written down on this topic, but just can't get it working. Thus I would greatfully appreciate, if somebody, who has unicast running on his system could provide me with sceenshots of his setups for server and client software, as well as the relevant network data: IP adresses for server and client hardware (ethernet cards). In the discussions I never could figure out safely, what was meant when talking about the server: the server programm or the server hardware. I hope, I could make my problem clear and thanks in advance for your efforts. Jochen Edited January 16, 2005 by Job48 Quote
Guest Oliver Posted January 11, 2005 Posted January 11, 2005 Well, this is the latest manual for streaming: http://www.DVBViewer.com/oliver/network.htm In the client you have to put in the IP address of the server PC. The default settings for the DVB server program should suffice, you only need to select the interface. Bye, Oliver Quote
Job48 Posted January 11, 2005 Author Posted January 11, 2005 (edited) Gee, that was really quick help! Thank you, Oliver. And it works, though I don't know why, yet. I've had to reinstall both, client and server. I've filled in the server's hardware IP adress at three places: Server: Multicast > Interface Client: Server > Address and Unicast > Address I restarted both several times and suddenly it worked. During the weekend I'll try to deal with the topic a little more systematic and afterwards will post my findings. Thanks again! Network load via router 7.5% (ether 100) Server CPU load 4% (Celeron 2.0 Ghz) Client CPU load 17% (Pentium 2.6 Ghz, GeForce Ti 4200) Video smooth, without scatter Jochen Edited January 12, 2005 by Job48 Quote
Guest Oliver Posted January 11, 2005 Posted January 11, 2005 I had to do a clean install of the client DVBViewer, too. Bye, Oliver Quote
Job48 Posted January 12, 2005 Author Posted January 12, 2005 (edited) After a few days: unicast streaming runs smooth and stable. Thanks again. Jochen Edited January 16, 2005 by Job48 Quote
