daffy Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 That "small" OSD screen that used to be the mini-EPG (at the bottom of the screen) disappears too quickly in one specific situation: * Make mini-EPG show (configured to "Enter" for me) // This is TimeStamp1 * Press "Enter" again // details are displayed now // make sure to be tuned into a broadcast where a large amount of information // you will then notice scrollers in the bottom right corner // take your time to read the information ;-) * Activate the "down" scroller (configured to "PgDown" for me) // This is TimeStamp2 // second part of details shown // Finally the mini-EPG closes // This is TimeStamp3 Now towards the problem(s): * What happens is that TimeStamp3-TimeStamp1 = 4 seconds (or rather whatever is configured as the auto-hide delay). What I expect, though, is that TimeStamp3-TimeStamp2 = 4 seconds - i.e. each "activity" in the mini-EPG resets the countdown to 4 seconds. The current behaviour leads to the effect that I have read the first part of the details, go to the second part - and the mini-EPG closes, because I am too slow to read... * In DVBViewer 2.3 beta and all other earlier versions, *manually* showing the mini-EPG would require that it *manually* be closed, too. I quite liked that. The current behaviour is different - in 3.0, the mini-EPG always auto-hides, whether it was auto-shown (due to a channel switch) or manually shown. I consider "auto-show - auto-hide" / "manual show - manual hide" the more intuitive behaviour. Currently I see "auto-show - auto-hide" / "manual show - auto-hide" Quote
Guest Lars_MQ Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 Yeah you're right. There are some quirks in it. After some discussions we hopefully sorted it out (in 3.01). You have two diffent timeouts: - Show EPG-Info (MiniEPG) on channelchange (lets say 4 seconds) - General menu timeout (lets say 30 seconds). This is resetted every time a useractivity (key press / mouse button press / mouse move) is detected. Scenario 1: You switch channels, the Mini-EPG is auto-shown for 4 seconds. If you call the EPG details the timeout is suspended and the EPG-Detail is shown for general menu timeout. If you go back to the Mini-EPG the 4 second timeout starts over. Scenario 2: You call the Mini-EPG manually. Now it will use the general menu timeout with all the above mentioned conditions. I consider "auto-show - auto-hide" / "manual show - manual hide" the more intuitive behaviour. Currently I see "auto-show - auto-hide" / "manual show - auto-hide" Well, the whole osd menu stuff is basically "manually show - auto-hide" (except for a few pages like teletext) based on the general menu timeout and user activity. Now the mini EPG works like all the other pages. Of course you can always disable the general menu timeout by setting it to zero (0) in the options. I hope you consider this solution more intuitive lars Quote
