Hironimo Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 Hi I want to start DVBServer. DVBViewer 3.0 is installed and working, btw. I've configured it as far as I could, but when I click on start the stop button is active for a very short moment, but then the start button is active again. The debug windows remains entirely black. Why is this? Also, when I select a frequency that works with DVBViewer and click tune, nothing happens. What do I have to do to make it work? Thanx Quote
Klausing Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 first start server --- than start client. There is only 1 possibility a server is running... then you cant start a second server. If the server is not started the debug window must be black. Quote
Hironimo Posted April 8, 2005 Author Posted April 8, 2005 Ofcourse. I did not even set up the client before trying with the server. And with server I mean the program DVBServer. What I understood now though is that you have to have an instance of the DVBViewer running on the server pc. So what I did is: - Started DVBServer and set the IP settings - Started DVBViewer What now happened is that 08.04.2005 15:03:24 --- Start Server appeared in the debug window, but the active button switched back to start again. Also I still cannot tune. And on the computer with the client I ofcourse can't connect. I don't even know how to find out if its connected or not. Does the channel selection happen on the server or can I do that on the client too? What did I do wrong? What do I have to do - step by step to get it working? Oh, btw - I only want to stream a radio channel for now, as the network connection is not fast enough for video. My pc is directly connected to the internet and has a static ip. Only windows firewall is activated, with the selected ports open. Quote
Guest Oliver Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 What I understood now though is that you have to have an instance of the DVBViewer running on the server pc. That's wrong. You mustn't use the DVBServer and the DVBViewer simultaneous. You can only use a DVBViewer as a client on the same machine. Did you follow my description here? http://www.DVBViewer.com/oliver/Optionen.html#network Bye Quote
Hironimo Posted April 8, 2005 Author Posted April 8, 2005 Ok. So no DVBViewer on the server. I just thought it might be necessary because when it ran at the same time there was a graph displayed in the statistic. I did read that page before. I've done it again. It did not help. Anyway, i've attached some screenshots how it looks to me. It even looks like this when I have clicked start. I haven't included the other two sections as there are obviously no clients listed and I do not understand the DVB Settings tab. I tried to tune (with a frequency I looked up from a transponder of a program I'd like to use), but nothing happens. Do I have to have a transponder tuned to be able to start the server? One thing you might notice: I am trying to stream over the internet, not the lan. Practically at my place lan=internet. I have a eternet switch which connects computers locally. To that switch also the router is connected which connects me to the internet and provides me a subnet of 8 public IP's. But that should not matter, just for your info. What do you do to get it running? Quote
Hironimo Posted April 8, 2005 Author Posted April 8, 2005 I found out why it did not start. For unknown reasons, port 8000 was already used, and there is no error displayed in that case. I think an error message should be added. I'll get back to you here if I still have problems. Testing now. Quote
Guest Lars_MQ Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 Well my guess, if the server start an stops imediately: - The ports may be in use on your computer. Have you tried other ports (only for testing). Another guess: is there any binding of the skystar 2 to the TCP/IP protocol (windows network-> settings)? If so, try remove all skystar/Network bindings. Quote
Hironimo Posted April 8, 2005 Author Posted April 8, 2005 I think it was the WMDM PMSP Service, but i'm not sure. I closed a few programs, including this, and then it worked. I had to notice though that even radio program don't work cause it seemes it tries to send the whole transponder, but i'm not sure. Anyway, my 80kb/s upspeed did not suffice to stream a 192kbit/s radio ok. Quote
