cp2 Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 (edited) I've just upgraded to the latest Windows 11 release, 24H2, and the outcome has been a little disconcerting. I have audio on my 3 sources, satellite, terrestrial and video capture but no video on playback. I have tried a "Record Current channel" and the resultant file played back in full video/ audio glory. I have also upgraded to version 7.3.0.0 with no improvement. However my TransEdit installation 4,3,2,0 displays a preview screen fine. I can surmise from this that it is the Playback is the culprit and I am wondering whether this is something that can be easily explained before I start thrashing around for an explanation. support.zip Edit.. interesting... I switched on Picture in Picture and the PIP displayed the video but it was not scaled correctly and the was a black bit top and left. Edited December 12, 2024 by cp2 More info Quote
Griga Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 (1) Update LAV Filters to the latest version. Please note that DVBViewer needs the 32 Bit filters. Don't unselect them. Restart DVBViewer. (2) In DVBViewer go to Settings -> Options -> Playback Components and select the LAV Decoders wherever possible. Finish with Apply. Quote
Griga Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 P.S. (3) Also select the EVR Custom Video Renderer (or at least EVR Enhanced Video Renderer) on Settings -> Options -> Playback Components. Quote
cp2 Posted December 12, 2024 Author Posted December 12, 2024 I've downloaded the lateast LAV filters, switched to them and selected the EVR renderer option. No change. support.zip Quote
cp2 Posted December 12, 2024 Author Posted December 12, 2024 (edited) Looks like I have sorted it! I normally leave the downloading of drivers to Windows update rather than an external driver manager or checking for updates but I decided to check on Intel's site in this case. They had a driver that is a matter of days old. I installed that and allowed the installation process to make the installation selections (I am now in insataqnt response game mode??!!). After a reboot all appears well with DVBViewer. Thank you for your prompt response and your advice that I will leave in place. Edit: and I'm now advanced to Apprentice status. It has taken a long time and I'm still not worthy! Edited December 12, 2024 by cp2 late comment Quote

For a graphics card driver, I guess? If yes, it was the right decision, because it was the only possibility left. 27 minutes ago, cp2 said: and I'm now advanced to Apprentice status. Expert I'd say in this very case... Quote
cp2 Posted December 13, 2024 Author Posted December 13, 2024 I've found another "wrinkle" to the 24H2 upgrade on my PC. If I select the Options menu item I get a keyhole display. There are no scroll bars and double clicking on the header doesn't maximise it. Having reflected on my initial problem it is clear to me that 24H2 initiated the problem and upgrading the DVBViewer version and the LAV filters did not resolve it. Changing the Intel video drivers sorted it out but there are maybe residual difficulties hanging around from the 24H2 update. I have previously left Windows to manage such things but in this case it wasn't the correct approach. On the plus side the picture on DVBiewer has improved, being sharper and less subject to motion blur. However, which element of the changes I have made did this I cannot say for certain. Quote

I have never seen something like this before Maybe it's somehow related to your Windows 300% text size setting. Are you using a 4k monitor? DVBViewer automatically adjusts the size of its windows to the text size. However, in this case it seems that the window content has been enlarged, but not the window itself. Try to select a slightly different text size, e.g. 290%, in the Resizer.exe tool (see DVBViewer program directory). It allows to adjust the DVBViewer text/window size independently from the Windows text size. Quote

Given that I didn't have this problem before there must have have been changes in 24H22 that are impacting on things. I'm displaying this on my LG 4K 49" TV and am sitting some 3-4 metres away from it. Not all programs can adjust for this and persist with small font sizes. In those cases I get some exercise walking to the screen in order to read it. Thanks for you help. Hopefully, this will be it but I'm not 100% confident. Quote
