Unable to stream where DVB Media Server is on a different PC to DVBViewer

Hi,

I've got DVB Media Server basic running on a PC, and I can successfully connect DVBViewer to the server when it runs on that PC; uPNP seems to work fine etc.

However I'm failing to get DVBViewer operating successfully on a laptop on the same network.

uPNP doesn't work - so the Media Server name is not being picked up. However I can successfully test the connection by typing in the server name and port. The server gets detected.

I've set up an RTSP Network device - and the config matches that for the DVBViewer instance on the server PC, with the exception that I've put the actual network address in rather than 127.0.0.1

Whilst the EPG is successfully picked up, I can't actually successfully stream any channel - I just get an error "There is no matching DVB device available for this channel".

I'm tried fiddling, but can't seem to get this working successfully over seperate PCs...any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Cheers!

The support.zip has been created on your laptop, I suppose. From your SystemInfo.txt:

Public Firewall Profile is active
Rules:

The laptop, particularly the firewall, is configured for a public network, not for a private home network, which means, very restrictive rules are applied, and a lot of things don't work, because everything that might be evil is kept out. Please search the web to find out how a PC can be re-configured for a private network.

Additionally no firewall rules are set up for DVBViewer (offered by the installer, but probably deselected by you). Right-click DVBViewer_Firewall_Rules.bat in the DVBViewer program directory and execute it with admin rights to make up for it.

Please also take note of the Basic Version Restrictions.

Thanks Griga, appreciate the help.

I noted the network setting after I'd posted and changed it, though it didn't solve the problem; though it also then prompted me to check the network setting on my new server - and noticed the same issue - with my home network set to public. So I've changed that as well.

I've gone back and done a full reinstall of DVBViewer - and am making progress.

Whilst the server is still not available in the drop down, I can connect via the server name, and from there, the DMS is now picked up under "Hardware", and I've successfully downloaded the EPG and the channel lists.

However when I try and stream I get a different error - "Channel Not Available from the Server".

I suspect there's an issue in my network settings somewhere! I've attached support.zips for both the client machine and the server.

This message is typically displayed if you try to receive two streams at the same time from the Media Server Basic, e.g. one with the DVBViewer on the server PC and another one with the DVBViewer on a remote PC.

Ahhh...thanks for clarifying Griga.

I had misunderstood that limitation on the DMS - it's one stream in total from the DMS, not one stream per tuner on the hardware.

Might need to license the full version then!

Thanks for the help and clarifications - much appreciated!

...except for clients belonging to the DVBViewer family on the server PC (like TransEdit).
