Version 7.3.0 and timeshift - and more

I am a simple fellow and only need to watch TV from ATSC and nothing else - no casting, no streaming, nothing other than just selecting a broadcast channel and watching the program on that channel. I only need timeshift where I start it, stop it, and is saves the created file, and all others that I start and stop. I can do this as many times as I want and it keeps all the saved files. I cannot get v7.3.0 to do this. Can anyone tell me how I can set up v7.3.0 to do the same thing I am able to do with v6.1.4?

The change log has hundreds of changes listed between v6.1.4 and v7.3.0. For a person with my simple needs, is there anything "crucial" that v7.3.0 does for me that v6.1.4 does not or cannot do?

I have set up multiple installation folders with different instances or versions of DVBViewer Pro in order to watch up to three different channels all at the same time, using the 2 TV sticks I currently have (one Pinnacle stick and one dual Hauppauge stick). I read that I might be able to do the same thing using only one instance of DVBViewer to accomplish the same thing, but I have never been able to figure out how to set this up. Can someone please explain the specifics for how to do this?  And if I do this, what, if any, are the advantages of this setup versus my current setup, which works perfectly fine?

I installed v7.3.0 last night and it sees my dual Hauppauge tuner stick. But I cannot change the "Tuner Type" to ATSC. The "Cable" setting is grayed out and I am unable to see any channels at this time. Why won't v7.3.0 allow me to select ATSC using Hauppauge like older versions of the software?

So I connected my old Pinnacle stick and that tuner was displayed in "Hardware" and I could select "ATSC" and thus get my channels. Why does Pinnacle work and Hauppauge doesn't?  But why can't I select "Keep timeshift file" and save all my timeshift files?

Thank you for any help you provide.

In DVBViewer select Help -> Release Notes (lets the channe log appear in your browser), then click the Timeshift Link in the Change Log DVBViewer Pro 7.0.0 section of the table of contents and read...

You may also want to read the Change Log DVBViewer Pro 7.0.2 section (Added: Timeshift: Tweak “Delete timeshift files automatically”...), if you are addicted to the old habits :)

If you want to know everything about timeshift, use the search function of your browser: Press Ctrl+F, enter timeshift in the search input field and find all occurences of timeshift by repeatedly pressing the Return key.

DVBViewer 7.3.0 facilitates using more than one instance considerably, because now you only need a single installation folder, and it will even be easier in the upcoming 7.3.1 release. Let's come back to this topic when the release is up in a few days.

Please note that you can easily watch two channels at the same time with a single DVBViewer 7.3.0 instance. Go to the channel list, right-click the channel that you want to watch additionally and select "Picture in Picture". After PiP has appeared, right-click it and select "Show in a Separate Window", if desired.
