Retrofan Posted April 13, 2025 Posted April 13, 2025 Hello, when using DVBViewer Pro and/or DVBViewer Media Server with AVM Fritz!Box 6690 Cable (and others) the signal strength isn't displayed correctly. It shows 53% for example, but actually the signal strength is around 80-90%. When using M3U files (TS stream) the signal strength is shown as 100% which is also no problem at all. Quote

The Sat>IP specifications state that the signal level should be reported by the server as a numerical value between 0 and 255. DVBViewer maps it to a 0..100% scale by dividing it by 255 and multiplying it by 100. Quote
Retrofan Posted April 13, 2025 Author Posted April 13, 2025 Okay, I see. I meant, I expected a much higher value. This is based on the diagnostic tool build inside the Fritz!Box for DVB-C signals. It ended up in a signal strength between 2 and 5 dBmV. Quote
Griga Posted April 14, 2025 Posted April 14, 2025 Sat>IP specifications: Quote Signal level: Numerical value between 0 and 255. An incoming L-band satellite signal of -25dBm corresponds to 224 -65dBm corresponds to 32 No signal corresponds to 0 That's all. No special indication for DVB-C. Quote
Retrofan Posted April 24, 2025 Author Posted April 24, 2025 Okay, I see! Maybe nice to have a setting for the user to override this in DVBViewer / DMS? I know Tvheadend has this setting and minisatip as well. Quote
Retrofan Posted April 28, 2025 Author Posted April 28, 2025 (edited) @Griga: I hope you will add this option for DVB-C in the next release as well 😉 Edited April 28, 2025 by Retrofan Quote
Retrofan Posted April 29, 2025 Author Posted April 29, 2025 (edited) I also checked the signal scale setting in Tvheadend and it also gives the same result as DVBViewer (setting 240). However, in Tvheadend this setting can be changed. I my case I correct the scale from 240 to 120. Signal scale (240 or 100) : Not all SAT>IP servers use the same signal scaling. Change this setting if the signal level displayed within Tvheadend looks too low. Edited April 29, 2025 by Retrofan Quote
Retrofan Posted June 4, 2025 Author Posted June 4, 2025 (edited) For now I'm using minisatip to fool the indicator 🙂 But it would be nice if DVBViewer also has it's own setting for doing this. Edited June 4, 2025 by Retrofan Quote
