kavics Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 Hi, I have a Sound Blaster Audigi ZS 2 card in my PC. With PowerDVD I can play back the DTS and DD5.1 audio through my card when I select SPD/IF out in the audio options. In DVBViewer I was unable to find the setting which would make possible the playback of multi channel audio through my card. I got the impression that DVBViewer uses PowerDVD or other similar DVD player programs to play DVD's. Why does not the audio setting of PowerDVD apply to DVBViewer? I tried the different filters but they all worked the same. If it is not supported now is the supprt coming in the near future? Regards, Kavics Quote
Griga Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 I got the impression that DVBViewer uses PowerDVD or other similar DVD player programs to play DVD's. No, it doesn't. DVBViewer has its own DVD player engine. However, it can use certain components like the PowerDVD video or audio decoder, if you select them in the options. The best for AC3/DTS multi channel output is the AC3 Filter. Install it, go to Options/DirectX/DVD in DVBViewer, select AC3 Filter as audio decoder, go to View/Filters, click AC3 Filter to open its property page, and you'll see all the settings you are dreaming of, and even more... kavics Posted July 26, 2005 Author Posted July 26, 2005 I have installed AC3. Unfirtunatly I just got more headaches. Now I return to the pronlem. First of all the help instructions seams to obsolate both in DVBViewer and AC3. When I first installed AC3 I had trouble to enable 5.1 channel playback. Finally I managed. AC3 config. Main dialog tab output and System dialog tab SPDIF pass through settings. Now I do not remember what was exactly the setting back then. What I remember is that I listened to some music DVDs and MP3s and I got so pissed of the sound that I quickly uninstalled the whole thing. (Diana Krall got Minnie Mouse voice for example) The control of AC3 seems to me too complicated. And the default settings did not work nice. But this was all just a sidetrack. I used PowerDVD for playback Now I came back to the issue to give it another try. Now I am playing a DVD for example which has 4 audia tracks: English Dolby Digital 5.1 (AC3 if I am right) English Dolby Digital 2.0 Hungarian Dolby Digital 2.0 Czech Dolby Digital 2.0 I can select in the DVD menu the AC3 track, but in the audio options I can see only english, hungarian, czech (first selected). I guess there should be another english for the AC3 and these are the 2.0 channels. The Settings-Audio shows these but then there are also Channel 1, 4-7. Anyway I do not get theAC3 nor the DTS audio track from the disks. Quote
