lehtikissa Posted May 15 Posted May 15 (edited) What could be the reason for different discontinuity count between DMS and DVBViewer Pro's DVB Source filter when monitoring the same channel at the same time? For example, in a recent recording, DMS logged 40+ discontinuities, but DVB Source only showed a few. The discontinuities are single events (example below), and they don’t appear to affect the picture: 14.18.50 / 00.23.50 (~ 1385,03 MB) Errors: 1 14.18.59 / 00.23.58 (~ 1392,89 MB) Errors: 1 14.19.23 / 00.24.22 (~ 1417,20 MB) Errors: 1 14.21.51 / 00.26.50 (~ 1563,99 MB) Errors: 1 Most of the time, I don’t get any discontinuities at all, but occasionally, DMS logs a lot of them on certain days. Edit: Sorry, I posted this in error on German forum. Can you please move it to English forum? Thanks! Edited May 15 by lehtikissa Quote

The DVB Source filter only monitors the played video and audio stream. The recorder may process more data, depending on the settings: Additional audio tracks, teletext, subtitles, EPG, service information... If you want to check which streams are affected by missing packets, you may want to use the TransEdit Scanner & Analyzer tool (see download area, read the ReadMe). Please note that the Analyzer does not count discontinuities (gaps), but tries to determine the number of missing packets, yielding different results. However, the counting is not exact in every case, because the continuity counter in the TS packet header is a 4 bit (modulo 16) counter, that wraps around from 15 to 0. Quote
